Hello All~

Was recently banded on 9/20.....am to be on liquids until Thursday. Well today I ate 4ozs. of Clam Chowder. This would still be considered liquids right? Even though its not clear.:embarassed:

Then I was wondering if this would count as a meal or just liquids.....I'm allowed to drink Slimfast shakes. Just a little CONFUSED!!!!

Are you on Clear Liquids or full liquids?? Clear liquid includes broth, Water, sugar free Jello and popsicles, etc., and full liquids starts to incorporate strained cream Soups. I was also banded on 9/20 and was eating cream Soup the very next day, as per the doctor's orders.

Honestly, you should be fine, but if you feel you did something you shouldn't have, checking with your surgeon is the best option.

Right.. strained clam chowder is liquid. But it's not a clear liquid.

Depends on what your doctor told you you cold have.

Thanks alot everyone~ I was somewhat confused because on one set of parers the Dr. indicated for me to be on "clear fluids" but then on my discharge papers it said "full liquids". Well, the clam chowder went down well...I even have some left-over for 2morrow:whoo:. I start my mushy sate on Thursday that will last for 2 weeks. Does anyone have any good recipes?

Hello everyone!

I was banded on 08/14/07 I have found that diff ppl have diff things they can and cannot tolerate after banding- if you want to add some variety to your "mushies stage" try this:

1 Box Reduced sodium chicken Stove Top Stuffing

1 oz of pureed chicken breast

add fat free chicken broth to get that "mushy" consistency

This tasted great and I stuck to the rules my nutritionist agreed so I added some cranberry applesauce just like Thanksgiving! I can eat reg foods now but I still like this one! Try it!

:clap2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
