It's so frustrating when people who have no clue what so ever try to give you advise and end up trying to persuade you not to do it or they try to crush your hopes and dreams. No one understands except in here.

Human nature is a funny thing. Focus on the work you need to do to eat healthier and exercise. When people see the results you can decide what to share. People know I am working hard to eat healthier. I don't mention my lap band because it is only one tool. Counting calories, low carb, high  Protein, turning down dessert. Those things they see me doing.

Lap-banded and love it!

You know what? I don't tell people because most of them have some sort of advice that they want to give me. I used to tell people, but know I just say thanks and if they ask how I tell them I watch what I eat (which is true).

Only one person gave me a negitive comment and that was, "Can't you just diet"

I know it was because she was scared for me having the surgery and she has been supportive ever since but Geeze Louise.

Like I hadn't been yo yo dieting for the previous 30 years.

People may understand about WLS on here but you'll notice that there might be a lot of unsolicited advice on here as well. ;)

I exercise a lot. I walk 3 miles 5 days a week. I go to the gym & lift weights 3 days a week. I gave up Fast food, Sodas, Fried Foods, Sugar, Alcohol, bread & Pasta. Drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast. Eat 3 small meals 3 hours apart. They average 300 calories each. I have 2 or 3 Snacks a day. Protein is mainly grilled chicken or fish with veggies. I'm now used to eating this way. Everybody is different but this is what worked for me. Ive lost 180 lbs in 2 yrs. Got 20 more to go. Good Luck to you. Hope you figure it out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
