mylighthouse 782 Posted February 6, 2017 Eight pounds in 12 days.... that is great! Why does it bother you that you've only lost 8 pounds? You just had major surgery. You were pumped full of air and your body needs time to heal. How much did you expect to lose?

RickM 1,752 Posted February 6, 2017 You may not be ready to come off of your diabetes meds yet - while may leave the hospital not needing them any more, others may take several months to get fully off of them. My wife took the better part of a year to be fully off of her diabetes meds, and that's with the more powerful DS surgery. And, while it's too early to be thinking such things, the sleeve and bypass resolve diabetes in around 85% of cases, so there is some chance that it may not put you into total remission It's probably worth running this by your surgeon and working out an appropriate dosage, if needed, for your needs now, and keep track of things as they change. If you do wind up being one of those whose diabetes does not go into remission, you can consider converting your sleeve to a DS (duodenal switch) which typically sees remission rates in the 98-99% range

Dianna66 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Yes give it time...your body is in shock from surgery and is going to take time to adjust to your new digestive system. Keep an eye out for signs and symptoms of infection like fever and/or drainage from incision sites, increased pain, redness. Do exactly as yout doctor ordered. If you are still having issues please contact your doctorSent from my SM-G925R7 using the BariatricPal App
Guest Posted February 7, 2017 In 12 days I'd lost 6 lb. You have to remember that the body burns calories to lose weight. I calculated all kinds of ways it was pretty much on que. Good luck, and don't worry about numbers. You will lose. In the meantime take care of yourself. If you still have issues, definitely see your doctor.
lenawhitehead57 3 Posted February 9, 2017 Make sure your yogurt is sugar free. Just because you're off your diabetic med doesn't mean the diabetes is gone. You still have to stay away from sugar to maintain good sugar levels. At least until your hormone levels level out.Sent from my LG-K550 using the BariatricPal App
