I want a new pair of gym shoes besides my good ol' trusty nikes.

I have a wide foot, and I want something different.

Are new balances good? Sorry for the randomness.

I love Nedw Balance shoes. I have used them for my exercise for years. They are wide and fit my feet very well. I would recommend them. Give them a try. Good luck

I've been partial to the newer Sketchers that have the memory foam inside sole, or the yoga mat inside. They're super comfortable and great for work outs. I have 3 pairs of them. All different.

These are my favorite ones: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013P096I8

A 300lb woman and shoes... my story:

11 years ago I gave birth to my last child. A month or so after the delivery I was ready to start working out to lose the baby weight. Very quickly I began having foot pain. Learned it was plantar faciitis. Chiropractor recommended stiff shoe inserts and Aasics brand shoes.

I wore those things for 6 years (regularly replacing the shoes with the same $120 model). In pain the entire time.

I started messing with horses so decided to switch things up and bought boots. The pain vanished!

The horse boots became tiresome, so I switched over to Columbia hiking boots with Dr. Scholl's inserts. Now my feet are really happy.

Boots don't knock my feet off the sides of the shoes like sneakers did. The ones I buy are very light weight. I have no trouble wearing them anywhere, even the gym.

I have come to the conclusion that sneakers simply aren't designed to carry people that weigh over 200lbs. Hiking boots are designed for people wearing packs, traveling over rough terrain.

Anyway, I still like Aasics, and plan to buy some more, but not until I lose 100+lbs.

After surgery, many people not only drop clothing sizes but also shoe sizes. They might see a reduction in the shoe size but also a reduction in the width of their feet. So since you are pre-op, you might want to wait to see if this might apply to you.

New Balance come in a variety of widths. I have worn them for years pre-surgery and still wear them now. Surgery was 8/23 and in December had to buy a new pair because my 8.5 D was too wide and my foot was slipping. Now those are my knock around the house sneakers. New workout shoes are regular width. I love them.

I wore New Balance for years, but I now prefer Brooks. I have a wide foot and the Brooks give me the stability without the weight of New Balance.

I personally love the Saucony brand. The grid is wonderful for me. New Balance and Brooks are good too.

I like to go to a running place to get feedback/testing and try different ones in the store. I usually buy one pair from the store and others from Amazon. Have fun!

My right foot is crippled and extremely deformed from arthritis. I love Ryka sneakers and Keen hiking shoes, not the ankle boots. Good luck in finding a pair, there is a lot of choices!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
