Well, Joanie, I could go in for an ingrown toenail and next week have to have open heart surgery. So, don't use me as an example. I had to have a very large hernia repaired on the same day as the lap band. Due to the swelling and the trama from the hernia repair, my band slipped before I even got out of recovery. Two days later (i was in hospital from Monday to Friday) Dr. went in to see what was going on. He had to replace the band. Like I said, don't use my case as an example. Everyone is different. When I had knee replacement, I had a blood clot. When I had hip replacement, I came down with a horrible infection. So, complications are normal for me!!! Most of the people sail through. After the dr. fixed the problem, I have had no problems. I did not have the terrible gas pains like most of the people experience. Would I do it over again----you darn right I would. Good luck on your decision and research.

I'm still working on it, but consider myself a success. 18 months and I haven't gained a pound. Do you know how long it has been since I could say that?!? :peep:

I just posted new progress pics yesterday: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/573105-post856.html

Well you know, Faith, I discovered something after losing a few pounds. When I was extra fat I got damned old. I have this rooster thing going on my throat, I have jowls that didn't used to be there... life is not pretty just yet.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
