teeshan 19 Posted February 6, 2017 I scheduled for Feb. 16 as well! The closer it gets, my anxiety level rises. I have even dreamt about the surgery. I have begun to tell myself that everything will be okay and any positive thoughts I can think of. The main one is that it is more dangerous for me to continue walking around in the state that I am in now than having the surgery. That has helped me tremendously. Find something to focus on that is positive and you will do fine. I start my pre-op diet on Thursday through next Wednesday. I'm trying to focus now on doing well with that and so far so good! I haven't had any anxiety! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

hikerdog 45 Posted February 6, 2017 I had RNY on 12/20/16. It was my first surgery, first anesthesia. I'd never even had laughing gas at dentist office. After they rolled me into operating room, I was awake for about 20 seconds then... I woke up in recovery room. Just think about all the pre-op tests you are going or already went through as evidence that you will get through surgery with no problem.

triplethreat 257 Posted February 6, 2017 You all will do great!! The recovery for me was super easy and the results are great. It's normal to be anxious; I have had surgery multiple times and always feel anxious. I actually went through the process 4 years ago and didn't go through with it. I wish I had! I was sleeved last summer and it was the best investment I've made! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Lauraazucena 15 Posted February 7, 2017 I went back and forth between being excited and being anxious. The night before, I was literally giving my husband instructions on what to do if I died! 3 weeks later, and here I am 10lbs lighter, and a total of 8.5 inches lost! I have actually lost 25lbs total since starting my pre-op diet, but only 10 of that has been post-op. It is definitely an emotional roller coaster. You can push through it! When they are prepping you for the surgery, if you are really anxious, I have been told that they can give you something to help calm you down. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I did the same thing with my husband and he's like stop it you'll be fine. My surgery is set for April, yet I'm nervous and anxious about it Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
