pixiechick 4 Posted February 5, 2017 I admit it I am having a mental battle with Protein Powder, actually shakes as well. If I mix a shake to drink I literally want to throw up ( I actually have) I can stomach some premier but I know I'm supposed to drink 4 a day. I am 10 weeks post op sleeve, doing well except for feeling hungry and tired most days. Also had a vicious UTI last week. ER said I was dehydrated. I'm down 45lbs I'm struggling. I would love some ideas for mega high Protein suggestions. Or how to break through this mental block Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 1 CStoned reacted to this

savyourdvine1 110 Posted February 5, 2017 I drink only one shake daily. I get the rest through the food I eat. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App
GrrlAnn 177 Posted February 5, 2017 Have you tried Isopure? It's expensive but it's very different than a shake. It's watery and fruity, super low calorie, zero carb, super high Protein. I love it! You can get it at GNC. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App 1 DebSmiles reacted to this
ready_to_be_thin 179 Posted February 5, 2017 When I was at your stage, Protein shakes made me so nauseous. It didn't matter what time of the day I drank them, I just couldn't stand them. And I couldn't seem to stomach the so-called unflavored Protein either. It's definitely not completely unflavored. But when I went for my 3-month follow-up, he told me my protein levels were way too low. My hair started falling out shortly after that, so those 2 things were enough to force me to do something different. I tried a bunch of different Protein drinks, and I finally found that I can drink one at about 3 o'clock and it doesn't make me nauseous at that time of the day. I like the Adkins different coffee flavored ones, and the Premier Protein vanilla ones are tolerable for me. I try to stick with the Premier Protein because it has a lot more protein in it. I also eat one Protein Bar a day. Usually the Oh Yeah bars or the Atkins bars. But what I do that's most important is the unflavored protein. Although like I said it's not completely unflavored to me, what I do is actually use half of the scoop in my drinks instead of a full scoop. But I do that with every drink that I have. Doing this allows it to be drinkable to me and not disgusting. I use Isopure unflavored protein mix. And doing it this way allows me to reach my daily protein goals. I went to my Vitamin Shoppe and they only had one flavor and I think it was raspberry something. I did not like it at all. It tasted like medicine almost. Really similar to what a 5-hour Energy tastes like. But yes, definitely expensive. Just curious what flavor you tried to see if I might can try or find another one. Thank you! But the other flavors are somewhat similar, except for the tea one. So if you really hated that one you probably won't love the others. BigViffer 3,544 Posted February 5, 2017 I am almost 2 years out and I still cannot stand Protein drinks. Hate them. The first year they did make me want to vomit, now they are just gross but I can stomach them. If it were not for the Protein cake I never would have made my protein goals though. It looks like everyone so far that has posted are pretty new, so maybe they aren't familiar with the protein cakes either. It's really simple though. In a big coffee cup or a small bowl add one scoop of Protein Powder. I use Gold Standard whey, but you can use whatever whey you want. It needs to be whey though. Add just enough coffee creamer to turn it into a batter. Add one half teaspoon baking powder (not soda). I microwave mine for 25 seconds for a lava cake type consistency. Others will go for about 45 for a fluffy cake. If I am feeling really fancy, I use my add Peanut Butter to the batter and "ice" the cake with plain yogurt. 4 Newme17, Dedeains, danaymacklin and 1 other reacted to this
CrowMilk 96 Posted February 5, 2017 I get all of my Protein through food, mostly poultry and cheeses. I will be starting a Protein Bar soon, just looking for the right one. I like the Special K vanilla strawberry ones, but it might be too hard on my stomach.

Ruth1ess 494 Posted February 6, 2017 Don't do Protein shakes if you can't stomach them. I didn't. The two week pre surgery diet was hell to me because I hated them. After surgery, I didn't have even one. I hid Protein powder in other ingredients, like Soup, early on, and did a lot of dairy to get my Protein up. Fairlife milk is just as good as Protein Shakes, honestly, and Greek yogurt is also an excellent source. I was determined to do it in a healthy way without fake foods, and I did. And still am at 9 months out! You can too. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App 1 DebSmiles reacted to this
