I had my surgery last wed (feb 1) and this afternoon I started to feel like I'm starving. My stomach is "growling" like it's empty and needs food. I'm drinking my fluids, eating popcicles and Jello and broth but still feeling like I could eat my arm I'm so hungry. I feel like I've been tricked! Anyone else feel this way?

It's very normal. Are you getting Protein in as well with fluids? It's the acid in your stomach but once you get to purée stage it's lots better. Just keep sipping this will pass before you know it. Congrats on your new journey. I'm 5 weeks out down 25 lbs and feeling great!

I wanted something more filling a few days post op also. Maybe you are ready to try yogurt or a few sips of Protein Shake?

I used to get crazy hungry on that stage. I would take no sugar added apple sauce and mix it with diluted apple juice and that helped sometimes.

I am 9 months out and I snack on 100 calories very very low sugar added soft tofu. It's filling and not at harmful as other Desserts. I wish I had discovered this when I was in my purée phase.

It's 150 grams so you can make three Desserts from it. I don't eat it all at once.

Be sure to stick to your diet and take your acid reducers. Maybe try to distract yourself... start a crossword puzzle or something to take your mind off baby tummy. (I swear these tummies are like real babies. Some are easy-peasy, not a moments trouble.....others cry nonstop!).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
