I am 7 weeks post op. Am I allowed to have popcorn? Has anyone ate a little and felt fine? I have stuck by the rules but I don't know what is the rule for popcorn

I have tried it and had trouble sometimes. I rarely eat it anymore but if I do I chew it up but spit out the husks as they seem to be what causes the problems.

it is usually not recommended so try to find some option. I often take a high Protein snack to the movies and not have the pop corn. good luck to you

I didn't even try popcorn that soon. Popcorn is really hard to digest. Check out your guidelines. Follow them. I usually take some Water and a Protein snack while at the show. Be careful.

Seems a little too soon for popcorn based on everything my doctor and nut say.

Maybe try Puffcorn instead?

Our toddler is still too young for popcorn (under 3 apparently aren't allowed it as choking hazard) so Puff corn is made from rice that has no kernels.

Normally found in baby aisles and made by Organix

So update. I did eat some popcorn at the movie and I ended up throwing up about 1/2 way thru the movie. And then I was up all night with gas and belly pain. Never again, not worth it. Live and Learn!

I have it here and there and I love it and have no problem and still losing weight at a good pace....Popcorn comforts me too because I don't get full too fast. I can actually enjoy myself by eating small hand fulls for a 10-15 minute period.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
