Can I strain my stitches?

Recommended Posts

I've been reading so many posts online including pamphlets I've been given on what to and what not to do post Gastric Bypass. Im three weeks out and I'm starting puréed stage. Now, I've been reading comments that you shouldn't have more than 2 oz of purée at a time. Im in shock! I've been comfortably eating a cup of Soup or Greek yogurt at a time! And I don't have to eat slowly. I eat at a moderate pace. Now I'm sooooo worried. Even if I didn't pop a stitch, could I have put a strain on one or two of my stitches and caused a weak spot? I'm a perfectionist and the thought of ruining my pouch and the good work the surgeon did is killing me. I can't stop thinking about it! Also, how much SHOULD I be eating at a meal?

@rny-donnalisa I would definitely touch base with the office where you had the surgery through .... I don't know what amount you should be eating but I have heard you work up to 1 cup of food ... but Soup and yogurt may not be considered "food" since they fell under the liquid phase ... but stretching my pouch out is something I definitely fear once I get to the point you are at ... I have also heard some people don't feel full this early on because of nerves being cut

I wish you the best - Melissa

I can have 12-16 Oz. of Soup, liquid in like 20 minutes. 8 Oz. Go down in like 2 minutes if I really want to. Like when I take my multi Vitamin. Haven't had liquid restrictions since day 1.
