When did you start feeling okay?

Recommended Posts

Getting nervous for Surgery less than a month away. If all goes well with no complications when do people start to feel themselves again minus the food changes? For example, when do you feel you can drink liquids normally, feel no pain, are less tired etc? I think I have this built up in my head that I'm going to be in severe paian for a month but then I read posts and people are exercising a month later. It gives me hope! I recently had a hysterectomy and felt good within two days but was just tired and felt great a month later. Why does this scare me so much when Ive been preparing for months?

Everyone's recovery is so different. It took me a good 6 weeks to feel back to normal and yet some are back to work a few days after surgery. It depends on so many things.

Water/drinks: within a few days

No pain: after a week

Less tired: after 6 weeks

I went back to work at 4 weeks which was a mistake as I have a very stressful busy job. If I had my time again I would stay off for the 6 weeks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
