I finally got my date for surgery!!!! So happy and nervous at the same time. Anyone else being sleeved on April 24th? I can't believe I only have two month left!

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm being sleeved on April 24th too. Insurance took a matter of only a few hours to approve my surgery and that was on February 24th. I have my final blood work/physical with the nurse practitioner, appointment with the anesthesiologist, and 3 hour pre-op class all on April 17th, a week before. I am so happy. I've been on my low carb diet for almost two weeks now. They require a low carb diet two weeks before surgery, but I started two weeks ago, just to get a good 7-8 weeks head start.

Yay for us!! April is a beautiful month, more ways than one now. It's our new birthday :780_sparkling_heart:

I think it's normal to be nervous. Even though I'm excited as hell, I'm getting increasingly nervous as my date approaches. But the good news is, from what I've been reading, is that they give you something to relax you before even wheeling down to the OR. So that's something to look forward to!

I got the phone call today after being denied 2 months ago because my A1c was 9.8! The doctor said he would approve me if I got it down to a 8. And here I am 2 months later , 20 pounds lost and lowered my A1c to 7.9 lol. I got to work on it.

I am now scheduled for April 17th, pre op testing April 5th. Will be on a 10 day liquid diet I hope I make it lol. After 6 long months of test and dr appointment this is finally happening! I am excited, super scared and nervous. Good luck to everyone!

Good luck everyone :)

I am nervous as the date draws closer, but I am ready for this. I am happy to have found this online group because I learn a lot from each of you and what to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
