mrlgrl 13 Posted February 4, 2017 I am 5 days post op from sleeve and hiatel hernia repair. I feel pressure in my chest constantly. And if I eat I feel full immediately after a bite or two. Could this just be pain from the hernia? I am down 20 lbs in 2 weeks Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

FindingCarrie 244 Posted February 4, 2017 I am 18 days post op, and I also had a sleeve and a pretty significant hiatal hernia repair. I have had pressure in my chest off and on since the surgery. I have not had any problems with swallowing though, or feeling full that quickly. I can eat about 2oz of whatever it is I'm eating before feeling full. When I asked my doctor about the chest pain, and asked at what point I should worry, they said to watch for not being able to swallow, shortness of breath or fever. I find that I have struggled trying to differentiate between chest pain I should worry about, and chest pain that is maybe gas or muscular in nature. As long as I haven't had those other symptoms, I have been trying not to worry. I definitely think that you should call your doctor. If for nothing else, just to put your mind at ease. jkirkpatrick35031 9 Posted February 4, 2017 I am also 5 days out and I am having the exact same symptoms. I also had a hernia repair with my sleeve. I am having difficulty getting my fluids in. I just assumed it was gas. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

mrlgrl 13 Posted February 4, 2017 Not food, but Soup, popsicles, and I tried cream of wheat..all acceptable on my plan, but I am in pain everytime I try anything. Water just makes me feel full all the time Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
Dairymary 533 Posted February 4, 2017 I was on liquids only for the first 3 weeks and even then could only tolerate 1-2 teaspoons of something like Greek yogurt or refried Beans. I can't imaging trying to injest anything but liquid at 5 days. If it's uncomfortable for you, then don't do it. Just concentrate all your efforts on fluids and Protein for now. If you are having trouble staying hydrated then talk to your surgeon.

mrlgrl 13 Posted February 6, 2017 Does anyone else have a sharp pain in there belly after a drink of Water? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
Powells95 17 Posted February 6, 2017 I had my surgery on January 3rd. Because our stomach swells after the surgery, the first 1-2 weeks tend to make it difficult to get in the liquids then Protein shakes needed. The doctors/nurses know this. Just take small sips all day long to keep you hydrated. This will pass. As the swelling goes down, your stomach will accept more liquids and then soft foods. 1 mrlgrl reacted to this
