Starting to feel better!

Recommended Posts

Hello, everyone. I'm Adrianne. I'm 48 and had my sleeve procedure done on 1/26/17. When I weighed in on the morning of my surgery, I was 232 lbs. I'm only 4'10," and have been carrying too much weight since puberty! My first night post-op was okay, but the next morning was bad! I had terrible nausea and couldn't keep down even the tiniest sip of fluid! I had to have two kinds of anti-nausea meds administered before I could drink. I had to stay a second night in the hospital until the doc was satisfied at my Fluid intake. I'm much better, now. Only, it's hard to be sipping fluids all day! I have to work on that, because I actually feel very hungry. This is going to be

some adventure!

Hi Adrianne

I like you had a real crappy next day after op. I had massive reflux issues and also stayed extra night in hospital, but Day 2 onwards all went well.

If you can't get any satisfaction out of drinking or sip sip sip

Crushed ice with a little cordial or icy poles have been my godsend

It will help big time

I was sleeved on 01/11/17

3.5 weeks after op and I'm down nearly 50pounds

Good luck with it all ❤️

Just for the record - best decision of my life

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
