anonmom 95 Posted February 4, 2017 I'm 8 days out and I'm not even too bothered by all the sugars and carbs I can never have again, but I dream of the proteins! Sushi, steak, hard-boiled eggs, salmon, tilapia, pork chops... I could go on and on. And salads! I want a big, crunchy salad with mixed greens and cheese and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Maybe some nuts or chicken on it, too. It is killing me that I'm dreaming of healthy things that I just can't have because I'm still stuck in the liquids phase. :'( Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App
kmorri 1,689 Posted February 4, 2017 This is a tough time. Know that it does get better and there is no need to "mourn" food.....You'll be able to eat those things again down the road. Some sooner than others. All the meats and Proteins you'll be able to have before you know it, so just hang in there and stick to your plan. Once you're past the weight loss phase you'll be able to work special treats into your plan from time to time.....so there is not really a reason to mourn. Try to stay busy it will help with the head hunger. Go for frequent walks.....also a good trick to curb a craving is to brush your teeth.......drink lots of water! I wish you the best. Hang in there! erp 2,016 Posted February 4, 2017 Great response from Kathy. Mourning food is a phase and a totally normal one. I remember obsessively watching the Food Network about at one week out feeling so sad about all the things I would never eat again. Total pity party for one. [emoji23] As they say, this too shall pass.
lysie1022 22 Posted February 4, 2017 Hey I feel the same way. I'm just 1 week post op. You're not alone. I get emotional when I see ppl eating a full plate of food. What's even more worst is I looooooove Pasta but can't have it yet...damn Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App
keezawest6 0 Posted February 4, 2017 I am starting to feel like that but I'm also feeling like I see food and EVERYTHING looks like shit with too much on the plates(commercials) Sent from my LGMS550 using the BariatricPal App
newmevsg_08 2 Posted February 4, 2017 It will definitely pass. I'm two months and one week post op. You never realize how many food commercials are on tv! And I also watched The food network drooling over what I couldn't have. I craved salad, fruit and veggies so bad couldn't wait to have them again. I can pretty much eat anything now, although steak and pork seem to not sit as well as fish and chicken. It gets easier every day. Lovemylifeagain 4 Posted February 4, 2017 I am right now! I feel like I am so deprived . I am 3 months post op and I have done okay except for the past week. I feel like going out and getting a burger from McDonald's. .....but I know if I do that it will not be good for me. I don't want to get to that point where it will reverse all the weight I have lost.... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App All going well with recovery. Pretty much everything I expected. I've heard purée phase can be one of the hardest - I'm told once we get to soft foods, meals may feel more satisfying. How about you?

Crafty Li'l Devil 144 Posted February 4, 2017 I'm having a hard time with just liquids. I'm 2 weeks post op as well and all I want to do is chew something. I can have yogurt and pudding...Just not the same. I don't even want anything fatty I just want to chew. I miss salty as well. The broth is ok...but man this is hard. I get to have oatmeal on Wednesday. That might help. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
