Who has decided to keep a journal of their pre and post surgery journey (for want of a better word)?

I didn't but wish I had now as I have the memory of a flea. I never bothered writing down how much I lost in each month or dates as to when I hit goals because at that time I felt it didn't matter. My focus was on reaching my goal, not how fast or slow I did it.

Do you note everything down? Do you write it in a book or do you keep it online?

Why is it important to you ? Is it for your eyes only or do you share it with anyone else?

Kate

I have a journal book, I am 3 days post-op, I log my Protein intake, liquid intake and I also noted my measurements and weight. I plan to use it through this whole process.

I find it easier than an app especially because our intake is like 200-600 calories for quite sometime.

I have journaled every day since the beginning of my six-month pre-op diet program on March 21, 2016. I have a record of what I ate each day, musings about the journey at least once per week, a weekly weight on Mondays (sometimes weights on other days when I hit a milestone), a list of milestones and when they were accomplished, and pictures at every stage along the way. I keep everything in a word doc on my computer. It is over 150 pages now! I have mostly kept it to myself, but some of my loved ones have looked at it on my computer. I'm toying with the idea of doing something with all of it when I reach my goal, but we'll see if I have that much ambition! :-)

I'm tracking (which I think is different from journalling) my food, exercise, and weight loss on various apps. However, there are a lot of things I would like to write about my journey, so I'm thinking of keeping a blog (privately, for now). My surgery is next week, so I'd like to get that started soon.

I also have been taking photos of random things connected to my weight loss - in the end I'd like to make a small scrapbook of those photos, plus random things like favourite recipes, etc.

I am using my fitness pal which tracks all of that plus has a journal. I keep it to myself however. It is helpful on days where it seems I'm not making progress. Keep me focused.

I do use myfitnesspal now, it's a great app to keep me accountable!

I can see a book out in the near future ????

I am envious of you, I wish I had done that too.

The only thing I have done is photos along the way. I intend to carry on until I am 6 months out from plastics. I feel as if I now want to write about the skin surgery before I forget. Maybe that should be a goal for me this week.

I will probably create a myfitnesspal account soon, but I'm the worst with food logging. I have been trying to get myself with it and I'm good for a week and then I falter. I've been semi-journaling on Instagram, as much as you can on there haha. But I think I will blog post-op. That's always been my go to, and I feel like sometimes I can't find what I'm looking for on the internet, story wise, so hopefully if I blog, I can help someone else out. :)

Yes i do journal a lot, i love writing about my journey because i feel so much better afterwards. I even wrote letters to my self ( I know it sounds weird ) to read after i hit specific milestones. I read two of them so far, one was the night before surgery and the other was the day after and that was a really good outlet for me and my emotions.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
