Just curious if anyone else out there is having gastric sleeve with a "low" bmi. How did it help your co- morbidities?

I am due for sleeving on March 3, 2017

Was 36, sleep apnea pretty much gone. Cholesterol level improved but still taking medication (lowest possible dose though), no longer get dizzy spells if I eat shell fish so yey!. I also had a sliding hiatal hernia repaired, no more heart burn issues.

Was 34 bmi, 49 years old (which isn't old!). Now 9 weeks post and 30+ pounds gone. Hubby says I've stopped snoring. My inflammation markers dropped from 9 (high) to a very normal 4. Pain in feet and joints is less. I had the surgery to dodge the Diabetes bullet. It is rampant on both sides of my family. I was heading that direction.

I'm 47. Had RNY on 12/20/2016. In Sept 2016 I was diagnosed type 2 diabetes. Started BP meds, metformin & victoza which made me so sick. I lost almost 30# pre-op so BMI was 35. The day before surgery, I stopped all meds. Everything is in normal ranges now. Since surgery, I've lost an additional 25#.????

BMI 35, high BP, high cholesterol, sleep apnea.

I haven't had blood work done, so I don't know about cholesterol yet. My blood pressure was down to normal within a few weeks post-op. sleep apnea was no longer a problem within the first 2 weeks.

I've also noticed that I haven't had issues with plantar fasciatis since the surgery. I also have had less joint pain.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
