Very Nervous - -

So Monday is the day, and holy crap am I nervous!

I have understood mentally how much of a change this will be. But now as I get closer I am starting to freak out a little. It is very much like when I thought about quitting smoking (done with that now :) ) I would get a panicky feeling in my chest and start feeling significant anxiety. I know that this indicates how much I am attached (addicted) to food. The thought of not getting that high ( I don’t know what else to call it) of eating 3 pieces of pizza, having to much of something that you like, or any other of a thousand different overeating scenarios that provide that high is scaring the hell out of me. This fear is not a logical one that can be rationalized, but rather one that is coming from somewhere that doesn’t respond to the logical fact that if I don’t loose weight it will kill me some day.

Just needed to get that out

It's definitely a learning experience, but it's not something that CAN'T be lived with! You'll start eating more cautiously because of the things you've heard and read about.

Before my first fill and even after that first one, I didn't have any problems getting much of anything down! After the 2nd fill -- different story. It's taught me that I have a long way to go to learn how to pay attention when I eat; to eat slow and to chew thoroughly. It's so easy to get side-tracked when you're eating and before you know it -- something's stuck. I did read on another thread that keeping pineapple juice onhand is great for when things get stuck -- it helps it go down. I tried it last night and yes -- it works. (Put it on your grocery list now). Wish I'd know about that when we were on a cruise at the beginning of the month!!!

When things get stuck, it's just trying to get it down or waiting for it to come back up. My husband asked me if it's worth it -- my answer to that -- YOU BET! It's teaching me to take it easy and slow down. And believe me -- you're not going to WANT as much food as you think. (Not to mention, as clothes start fitting loser, you bet it's worth it!):clap2::whoo:

Good luck!

FEAR OF CHANGE... MOURNING FOR THE LOSS OF OUR OLD HABITS...

Isn't the human brain just a convoluted miasma of contradictions?

Why aren't we fantasizing about the NEW and IMPROVED sensations that will replace the tired, fat-dragging, end-of-the-day slump that excess food gives us now?

What will it be like to have tons of energy at the end of the day? What will YOU do when you're wide-awake and still energized at 10pm--hop on a train? Go see a movie? Me--I'm going for a midnight horseback ride, but my horse already knows I'm nuts.

If change feels like free-fall, it's because you haven't spread your wings yet...

I never worried about not being able to have food again..

And honestly, the band does something for the brain. I use to binge all the time, and now if I 'want' to binge (which is a lot less frequent), after I eat a few bites of my 100 calorie pack, I am satisfied and no longer want to binge.

I don't know that you'd be banded and say "I wish I could eat the 3 pizza pieces!".. maybe you will, but that hasn't happened to me. I haven't been upset that I couldn't eat as much as I wanted to.

I'm more obsessed with how much other people eat now.. and how quick, and how big the bites. At restaurants, or even watching DH eat.. I just think 'How disgusting'. It's amazing what the band opens your eyes to!

Oh man, I remember those butterflies. It is so scary and exciting at the same time.

Now my butterflies come when I put on a new pair of jeans size 12!!!!!

Good luck, I am sure all will go well.

Thanks for the replies, I look forward to when I will be past this and can focus on the actual changes the band will help me achieve instead of worring

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
