marybrid19 0 Posted October 30, 2007 i had surgery on Aug 2nd, 2007 and I still have occasional shoulder pains,, sometimes it's almost unbearable.. i was told by fellow bandsters at the support group that it's normal to have that with the band for quite some time,,, hang in there give yourself a couple of weeks and you will be so happy that you stuck it out.. kacee 3 Posted October 30, 2007 <p>Heavenly days yes, MOST of us had that. My pain was in my left side, under the shoulderblade and shooting up my neck on the left side. It started about 2 days after surgery and was pretty brutal for about 2.5 weeks. I used pain meds, heating pad, Gas-X (which I took regularly) and WALKING. When you feel the need to burp and fart DO NOT HOLD BACK. These are the best things you can do, and believe me, you'll be doing it a LOT!!! After a while I kindof thought to myself "Screw being a lady, I gotta get some RELIEF!!!!"</p>
ejkusko 0 Posted June 19, 2008 My husband just had banding on 6-10-08 and is in excruciating pain with his left shoulder, he is at the doctor right now having a cat scan, I stumbled on theis chat forum trying to find some answers and it seems that this is pretty common. Tha makes me feel better, but I am sorry for all recipients that you have to suffer with this. I am hoping for my husbands sake that this will ease up soon. I hanve never seen him in so much discomfort,on the bighter side he lost 16 pounds in 7 days!
jpalaia 0 Posted June 19, 2008 Hi There When I Had My Surgury In Sept 07 It Took At Least A Month For The Shoulder Pain To Subside. This Is Actually Gas Pains From The Surgury. Once Your Body Becomes Custom To The Band You Sshould Be Ok. The Only Thing I Can Suggest Is To Keep A Hot Pad On Your Shoulder While This Pain Lasts. Usually I Would Have It Up To Two Hours At A Time And The Heat Pack Worked. Good Luck And Congrats On The Weight Loss
jamietindall19 0 Posted July 9, 2008 the shoulder pain you are feeling after the first month is not gas! i am 10 mos out and it is somewhat of a permanent side effect for some the band /stomach is attached somehow to the same nerve that the esophgus and shoulder muscle so its sort of a pinching off if you will of that nerve mine comes and goes especially when i feel tighter or after a fill the pain gets less but i do still have it that question was answered by my doc so ya just hang in there it does get better but may be permanent! good luck:thumbup:
