How big was the nodule?

My husband has a small nodule that is no big deal. They are very common.

CM or MM? There is a big difference. 5mm is 99% of the time nothing. 5cm is a bit concerning. Either way, prepare yourself for more tests. Docs like to follow them to see if they grow.

He had a ct scan looking for a hernia and it caught a picture of the lung. They followed it for a couple years. It "grew" to 4mm, then stopped. Reality is 2mm or 4mm might be the same size, depending on who is doing the measuring.

There is no test that can tell what a pulmonary nodule IS until it gets to be about 1cm (10mm) in size. Even cancer doesn't grow THAT fast, so a 2mm nodule that is cancer takes a couple years to get to 1cm.

BUT, like I said, more than 99% of these tiny nodules are NOT cancer. Something like 20% of the population have them.

Yes it scared me too !! I've read online & heard from my cousin an RN it's normal but no one laid it out like that. I was freaking out thinking maybe I need to have a cat-scan like next month. Thanks so much at least now I can focus on my surgery once I'm post op will f/u with my primary to continue keeping an eye on my chest.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
