Hi all.

I'm very excited. I have just got home from seeing my surgeon. He has given me a date : 14 September 2017.

I am getting the sleeve done. He said I should expect to lose 33kg or so. Said I shouldnt find it too difficult. And as my start weight isn't too high and if I can keep it at this weight I will only have to do one week of pre op diet.

I'm so happy that I finally have a direction set. I feel like I will be able to get my life together and sorted. I will finally be able to resume my life that's been on hold for a few years now. Due to chronic pain, I've given up my love of bush walking... And weight just kept stacking on. I can't wait to not be in so much pain anymore.

I'm mostly excited to live a long and full life with my husband and son.

So, a new day is coming... I can't wait.

Thank you all for your support and love. I adore this forum.

Xxx loz.

I love the dress! I can't wait to wear something like that. I can remember when I was only 105 kgs - I guess that's 5 years ago now. But I'm on my pre-op diet and have already lost 6 kgs so I'm slowly but surely getting there.

Just curious - why do you have to wait so long for the surgery? Are you required to go through tests and dieting like many in the U.S. have to do for insurance purposes?

That website goes up to 8xl in some dresses... Take a look around xxx good luck xxx

Good luck hun with your journey. And ur doing great!

In Australia, we have free health care however in NSW there are only 14 spots in the whole state for wls in the public system. So for those who can afford private health insurance we have to wait 12 months before we can claim the surgury. So my Dr has booked my surgery in the day after my phi clocks over. It's anoying but, hey its what we have to do. If u have the cash you can pay the whole thing out in one go but your looking at 18k + ... All the crazy systems to make it work.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
