I want crackers soooooooo bad! I'm only 13 days post op and I have been craving crackers for 4 days! Im on the purée stage and every time I have salmon/tuna, I just imagine how much better it would be on a cracker!

It does seem weird not having tuna on a cracker! BUT....not time for that yet. It's just extra carbs you don't need anyway, right? Focus on that protein!

But...whenever I see cheezits in the store I wince a little. So I completely understand!

Crackers are a no-no on my plan. Empty carbs. You will have to work on these cravings by finding other things and activities to occupy your mind. You definitely can't have them on a pureed diet but you don't need them either. I know head hunger is hard and cravings are tough, but you need to look at the big picture. Cravings are going to be a part of your journey but if you let the, they will sabotage your weight loss efforts.

I had a hard time not eating crackers with my tuna also, I have since started substituting cucumber slices for the crackers and find that it satisfies my craving

That's awesome! When I get to full foods, I'll try that!

I do find it weird that some people can have crackers. I've read some plans that recommend crackers & Peanut Butter

You'll want a lot of things on this journey. Whether you give into it or not will be the key to success.

This whole thing is all about learning to delay gratification when it comes to food and finding other things to satisfy you emotionally. The people who don't learn to do that are the ones that struggle and give up.

I bought some Spinach and Kale greek yogurt dip at Trader Joes this weekend, and I ate it with the mini bell peppers. I scooped out the peppers and used them like a spoon. It was sweet, crunchy and hit the spot. It was a great replacement for crackers/chips.

Also, once you get to regular foods, you can try the parmesan crisps. Many have talked about it on here. You can make them yourself or buy them at various stores.

I so had the same craving for crackers - day 18 VSG post op and in purée phase as well. I like the idea of using a slice of cucumber - when I get to that point. I've been hungry - part of me thinks that's a good thing, and that my body is recovering well. But scares me because the sleeve is supposed to reduce the hunger hormone. I know my diet is in a state of flux - so now probably is not a great time to make any assumptions. I'm hoping when I transition to regular foods and a regular schedule, hunger and cravings will level out.

I've been hungry too! It made me scared that I did something wrong

My plan allowed saltines and reduced fat ritz at two weeks-the purée stage, and I was so thankful because they were the only thing that helped with my nausea.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
