JDfromAZ 2 Posted January 30, 2017 Hey guys! New here and this is my first post. I'm nervous about the revision surgery to RNY because of my bad experience with the Lap Band. I had it done like ten years ago when I was a lot younger, I'm 29 now. There has been a lot of guilt and shame from not meeting my goals. I was so ashamed I have spent most of my 20s trying to forget about it because I thought I was the only one who had this experience. Recently I have learned that I was not the only one who has been through this and it is very common. This has been very uplifting and I reached out to a surgeon who I plan on doing the revision to RNY procedure. I guess I'm looking for some people to connect with and share similar issues and experiences. Also I'm wondering what to expect. I'm 6'5" a bit over 400 lbs. Thanks for reading looking forward to a response. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
jovi2673 22 Posted January 30, 2017 Hey! I didn't realize how many people had band problems either. It's been nice to read what others have experienced. I can't help much with what to expect since I'm in my pre-op for revision starting today. My surgery is on 2/13. But I'll keep ya posted!

Maraki 23 Posted January 30, 2017 I had the band in 2005 then revised in 2011 due to slip and never lost with it the way I was supposed to, I then got the band removed and rny same day one surgery. At first you might say what the heck did I do. After your body heals and you follow the rules it will be the best surgery you can have. I am almost to goal lost 90 pounds in a year and that's . Band patients lose a bit slower than first timers. I couldn't be happier!! Good luck and follow your heart it will work as long as you listen and follow your surgeons advice Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am somewhat dismayed that people are still getting banded today. But live and learn. Find an expericed surgeon with revisions and youll be like the rest of us wishing you had done it sooner. Hilarious 3 Posted February 5, 2017 I had the lapband surgery in 2007 and maintained an 80 pound loss until the band slipped in 2015. I had it removed and converted to RNY on 10/29/15 and it's been amazing. I am 12 pounds away from a normal BMI. I have lost 108 pounds since surgery and am still losing a little more. I can t even imagine hitting normal weight, but it may no It's happen! Good luck to you. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
JDfromAZ 2 Posted February 17, 2017 Thanks for the responses everyone. It's great to hear how everyone is doing and glad I'm not alone. I jumped through all the hoops and they submitted to my insurance so I'm waiting to hear back from the bariatric center. I'm super excited and a bit nervous.
