new_me_2008 1 Posted September 24, 2007 The Dr says this is fine and that I will not have a fill until after I get back, but I am very nervous about travelling 22 hours by plane so close to my surgery date. In addition, I am going to New York on OCT 24, but this seems more doable. -:help: What do you think? Are there any of you out there that travel alot for business and face the same challenges? KarenG. 0 Posted September 24, 2007 I went to Europe 3 weeks after my surgery - I know it isn't at all the same thing but I was totally fine. The flight was no problem because my incisions were almost healed at that point. One thing to remember though is that you shouldnt do any heavy lifting for at least 6 weeks (suitcases I am thinking). Hope this helps! I would go for it - I am dying to go to India - also mushy food should be no problem there!
LadyBlue 0 Posted September 24, 2007 You shouldn't have any problems. You go on about your normal life -- as was mentioned, my only restriction was not to lift anything too heavy. Have a great trip!!
WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted September 25, 2007 No big deal. If you were getting a fill first that wouldn't be wise, but just being banded and going to India? I wouldn't think twice about it.
DonHoll1 0 Posted September 25, 2007 I would go in a minute. I love to travel and the band would not stop me. Have a great trip. Donna
Lynn_Marie 0 Posted September 25, 2007 Wow, if you're going to India you could have just had your lapband surgery there for lots less!!! I checked into it before I decided on Mexico.
Lynn_Marie 0 Posted September 25, 2007 Just thought of a question I want to ask. I'm going to Jamaica in June and if all goes well I will have several fills by then. Is that a problem??? I don't think the flights are that long. One from KC to Nashville and then a layover and then another one from Nashville to Jamaica.
new_me_2008 1 Posted September 25, 2007 Too funny - actually my DR was born in India and when I expained my fear of travelling there she said no problem, if something crazy happens they will have no trouble helping me through it! Thanks for all of the advice - I feel better about it.
