Lilacs 2 Posted January 29, 2017 I'm new to this whole process, where do I start? How do I find hospitals of excellence that are required? What is a medically supervised weight loss program? Can I do it with my PCP or do I need to go to an official center? I'm so confused! 1 Yari1985 reacted to this
Berry78 4,261 Posted January 30, 2017 You will want to talk to your PCP, and visit bariatric centers that accept your insurance. Do you have a phone # on your insurance card? If so, give them a call and see what they say. Google will be a help as well. Be prepared in case things to go not-so-smoothly, so you won't be too disappointed if there are some hurdles to jump through. What part of VA do you live in? Dicha24 0 Posted March 9, 2017 Hi do you have Medicaid and how is it going with the process?
Lilacs 2 Posted March 9, 2017 I had an accident about 2 years ago and just got approved for disability so my Medicaid is still being processed. I really wanted to start the "6 months medically supervised weight loss plan" early so I could get my surgery sooner. But what I've learned from UVA it's a process I have to do thru them basically so it's going to keep pushing things back before I can even get documented weight loss started. I thought I could do it thru PCP but they're telling me it's going to all be a longer process, so here I wait, wasting time. If I go much lower with my weight I won't qualify as my BMI now is 35.4 1 LeaninLanc reacted to this
