Surgery tomorrow! (Jan 30/16)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I'm officially excited now for surgery! My friends and coworkers have been asking me for weeks if I was excited and I told them that I'm mentally preparing myself to be hungry and dehydrated the morning of. Now we're at the final hours and I'm stoked! Unfortunately, I don't think I lost a lot of weight before the surgetu. My last weigh in, I was down 10lbs. I've been on the Optifast 900 for 3 weeks. I work anywhere between 10-16hrs per day so it was hard to consume so little when I'm working for so long. It got better on the final week. Kind of wish I had more time. I hope it's enough and my surgery is a success! Wish me luck everyone! So glad to be a part of this community!

Well, I had my surgery yesterday. Seems like everything is going good. Of course there is the

pain, but I have been walking quite a but. My sugar skyrocketed but they got that under control now.

Nice. Just ordered Breakfast. Forgot what I ordered. I feel lucky and blessed that I don't feel hungry. Hoping to be discharged by the afternoon. Good luck with your recovery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
