I 100% feel your pain and this was my biggest struggle too. I wanted to chew food SO badly during the liquid stage and i would DREAM about food. Watching TV was horrible because of all the commercials. I went to the gas station and saw one of those nasty cheeseburgers and I would have eaten the cardboard if I could!!!

You could try chewing something and then spitting it out???? Maybe chew ice cubes...because then its just liquid. My only suggestion is to be strong and know that it will be over in a few days. I know its hard and I remember it like it was yesterday.

Good luck!!

Ive honestly thought about chewing on food, then spitting it out. But, then I figured the temptations of swallowing the food would come in. This is suppose to be my life change that I decided to do for myself. So I just need to suck it up! BUT geeeesh, its SO hard! Im happy to know, I'm not the only one that has struggled with this. Thanks for your response. Its good to know we can be there for each other. :)

I feel you and im 7 days post op as of today , and being the momma of a toddler who loves to war doesn't make it better..and I live in a house full of 6 other people who eat...and cook and it's just straight torture...the only thing saving me is my loss of hunger sensations and incentives I had gotten the sleeve. Imean not a food addict. It when I do eat I want it to count lol and I I eat out of boredom and being here addicts the house with not anything to do is making me really bored

I went through the same thing for about 2 weeks post-op.

Try crunching on ice cubes. I also made ice cubes from Pickle Juice to satisfy that need for a salty & crunchy thing - it got me through.

Misty, I was sleeved 1/17. I am struggling with this too....big time. I can literally feel food in my mouth and am craving things I have not had in years! Commercials, and just driving by fast food places are all messing with my head. The cliche 1 day at a time is all we can do. I keep drinking, savor my yogurt and mashed potatoes and can't wait to add egg in week 3! Hang in there....one day at a time. This too shall pass.

I just started puréed but I feel your pain. It was awful. I was so hungry and just wanted to chew and crunch. Found out I could have sugar/fat free fudgicles and that was my savior. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
