Hi,

Mainly just saying hi and letting you know that I am 45 and had the sleeve in November.

I am only 11 weeks post op, so I can't say much about the extra skin, except that I have lost quite a bit of weight and my double chin is about gone. I was worried about the skin under my chin, but it's starting to bounce back. Also have quite a bit of skin on my arms, doing hand weights to try and help with that. And using lotions. Anything to try and help.

I didn't have any complications with the surgery itself.

I am just about at the time where my hair might start falling out. I expect that it will... most people lose some hair.< /p>

Of course someone further along than me can help you more with your questions. :)

Good luck with your surgery!

Thank you so much. I have read so many posts on here, but it seems that MOST are younger. I am not as worried about Hair loss as I am about skin and complications. I have NEVER been comfortable wearing a tank top/sleeveless shirt, and it is one of my hopes that I will be able to someday, I know that sounds dumb, I guess it's just that I see everyone else wearing them and I want to be "normal"

Good luck on your journey!!!!

I'm 50 and have some concerns. My doctor told me that age doesn't matter, follow through does!

I'm 47 had surgery in December, so far everything is great. Didn't have much pain and eating has been fine. Never threw up had slight nauseous here and there . Too early for hair loss and skin but suspect I'll have/ go through both

I was 43 in dec ( 44 next month) when I had mine. I haven't had hair loss yet ( nearly 9 weeks post op)

I didn't have a whole lot to lose so my loose skin which is predominately around my tummy area isn't a huge issue. I have had 3 c sections so I guess I'm used to the already buggered up stomach skin lol.

No lotions will help any loose skin only doing weights and plastic surgery will help.

No problems with the surgery at all. No pain meds after day 1. I'm off one lot of bp meds and halved another. My thyroxine levels will be checked soon again.

I've gone from 84 kgs to 66.9. Most of my weight loss was real quick. Slowed right down now..

You're very right! I just want to start living a normal, healthy life!!!! My date is June 14. I decided to wait until then because I have the Summer off and i wanted a lot of time to "learn" how to learn how to eat again.

I am older at 48 I am 10 months out and nearly at goal. My under chin was bad around 6 months but has gotten much better now. My abdomen is very crepey, but doesn't really hang, my stomach above belly button is fine. My inner thighs a little crepey too. So I plan to wear bike short like swim shorts and bikini top. My bat wings also were bad around 6 months, but closer to goal the skin is more shriveled and wrinkly than hanging. Really unnoticeable and with weight lifting it is looking better. Good luck. One caveat I feel great and even with more face wrinkles I get a lot more attention from men and women it's crazy!

Sounds like you are happy with the results. Did you have alot to lose to begin with? I probably need to lose at least 120lbs. My main "goal" is to be pain free! I will deal with the cosmetic issues as they come, but if I am not always tired and in pain I think I could get through anything!!

Congratulations on your achievements so far!!!

I'm 44 and had rny august 2016. Down 103lbs so far. SW 287lbs. hair loss started around 10-12 weeks post op and hasn't slowed down. Had nice hair, now it's thin. :( I recently started taking Biotin. Not sure yet if it's working. But it doesn't hurt to try it. Everything I've read says Hair loss does stop. Can't wait for that. Having some issues now with sagging skin. :( However, I did expect it to be worse then it is. Still no regrets!! I do strength training 2 days a week since 8 weeks post op and do cardio 2 days a week. I don't have a goal weight, just a goal size. Strength training has taught me to not care about that #....only how your clothes fit. Good luck to all. :)

I feel the same way. I don't (at the moment) have a # I'd want to get to after surgery. I just want to be healthy and be pain free (back, knees, feet) I also heard the hair loss will stop after a while. Congratulations on your success!!!

I'm 39 and my Bday on Valentines Day. I'm 3 week post surgery. My BM are different. I suppose it is normal so my body can adjust. No complications Thank GOD. I do have way more energy now. I still track all the food I eat with my S Health App as I started Jan 16. My skin is starting to sag a lil. I can go to the Gym yet, but I walk about 2 mikes a day so my legs are firming up. My cousin wife is 1 year post surgery. She has some sag but not as much. She is considering surgery (You know women) to get her ideal look.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
