The biggest stall ever or is it the end.

Recommended Posts

I had surgery June 2016. Everything was going well. Ive lost a total of 54 pounds. even though Im happy with that, its not enough. I still need to lose at least 70 more pounds. Its been 2.5 months since I lost any weight. I get my Protein in and ive started exercise, I journal. What the heck is wrong here. How can i start losing again. How many of you went through this? Im so depressed over this, like really depressed. I keep seeing peoples stories that had surgery around the same time and they dont seem to have this problem.

I just went through the same thing. Stalled for a good 6 weeks, hated to even step on the scale. Finally decided to weigh myself just because, and was very surprised that my stall had finally broke!

How many carbs are you eating every day? When you say you get your Protein in, around how much Protein are you having each day? How many calories are you taking in each day?

HAve you tried changing your workouts up? Sometimes your body gets used to a routine and you have to shock it. If you do a lot of lifting normally maybe do extra cardio for awhile for example. Good Luck!

I've been getting about 80g of Protein. Checked my journal today and I think carbs and calories are doing me in. 1200 cal. Average alittle over 60 g carbs a day. How strict should I be with carbs and calories.

I don't count calories. My doctor asks that we get less than 60g carbs , less than 20g fat as well as 60-80g of Protein.

If something isn't working, and you really want to change things, you find different ways to make it work.

You track your intake so you know where you are and where you need to be to get things moving again. Do you know EXACTLY how many calories, Protein and carbs you're getting a day?

Do you know if you're not overdoing it with sugar and simple carbs?

Are you moving more or changing up your exercise routine to jump start your metabolism again?

Are you drinking at least 64 Oz of Water?

Have you talked to your surgeon or NUT?

The surgery only does so much. I figure that's the 60% expected weight loss they are talking about that just happens. You have to be proactive through out the process to help things along from time to time.

I would have never gotten to my goal weight if I was just waiting around for it to happen.

My doctor is very strict about calories. She says no more than 800 per day during the weight loss phase. I've been following her advice pretty strictly and am now less than 10 pounds away from normal BMI.

After I reach goal, though, then the focus needs to be on healthy eating in maintainence.

You may need to take a look at your diet. You'll have to figure this out, because it's different for everyone. I have learned that 1200-1300 calories is maintenance for me, and I need to eat around 800-900 to lose weight at a rate of 1-2 pounds per week. I keep carbs moderately low, and get 80+ gm Protein a day. I don't worry too much about fat, because I'm generally following the bariatric diet of Protein first, non starchy vegetables, and no bread, rice, or Pasta. Of course I get my fluids in, too. I avoid sugar and most processed food.

So, while I find it absurd and maddening, there is no way around it for me. My body fights tooth and nail to put on weight, but at the moment (4+ years post op) this is what works for me. I had a little regain over the holidays, and thought I would just eat around 1000 calories, but I was only losing less than half a pound a week or nothing the first two weeks in January. Now that I've decreased to 800-900, I'm seeing a better loss. Totally worth it, to me.

My surgeon says only about 10g of carbs per meal. Try a pouch reset. Google or pinterest it it helped break my stall.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
