***Soups after surgery***

Recommended Posts

What do you guys like? Any suggestions? Any recipes? I'm trying to eat as much broth as I can. Its very hard. I'm getting bored very quick and not wanting to eat at all. I had surgery the 23rd. I'm 4 days post op. Anyone tried to eat creamed Soup? Like Tomato Soup? Thanks ????

I'm 10 days post op and still am only allowed Clear liquids and Protein shakes until Monday. I'd die for some Tomato Soup right now lol And I don't ever want chicken broth for the remainder of my life.

Your list looks almost like mine did for the liquid phase.

When I was at your stage, I did a lot of cream of celery Soup. I used a strainer to get out the chunks of celery. Creamed Soups worked well for me. And to get my Protein, I would add half a scoop of my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder to it... worked really well for me.

Congratulations on your surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery.

I ate chunky savory vegetable Soup by Campbells and strained it and added some hot Water , it tasted good! I also ate Tomato Soup from panera bread. The chicken based Soups didnt taste good after surgery besides lipton chicken noodle strained.

This is what my diet looks like... I have to do at least 4 days of Clear Liquids only in order to move on to "full liquids"... today is day 2 of clear liquids for me.

My plan has me on clear for the first week. I was thinking of getting some Won ton Soup and straining it.

Egg drop Soup and wonton are very good. Strained creamed Soups are good too, I found that the heavier cream Soups sat better in my stomach. Strained cream of celery, potato, and chicken. Also enjoyed split pea and roasted bell pepper.

I had hot and sour Soup, strained; cream of Tomato, homemade; bone broth; also, Panera would strain their chicken noodle soup and sell me the broth which was so good that I wanted to cry! This stage can be trying but it's so important-- have fun with it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
