I was wondering what qualified you to have this done???? Ive heard alot have been due to infections in the creases of flapped over skin...But is there any other issues that can possibly qualify u??? (Well if u insurance does cover that type of surgery)

I'm having my panniculectomy in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!! My pannis (my upper tummy skin flab) hangs below my pubis (my pubic bone). I had skin rashes, I've maintained weight loss for at least 6 months and I have tried and failed regular creams and such for the rash.

I also tried to get my arms done but my insurance company (who i happen to work for) denied them as being cosmetic.

Check out my blog next week for photos and a surgery update if you're interested :)

Ty for replying...Ive lost a total of 86lbs thus far...ive had no rashes but my belly skin hangs over enough that if i do not apply powder (it is a fungul powder which i get free from my job and is possibly why i haven't had any rashes) so if i dont apply the powder continuously it gets sweaty and smelly..lol..sorry to be so detailed..lol..also im sure with having 3 c sections it doesnt make it better because it seems like after loosing that amount weight it gave the excess skin the perfect fold to hang over..lol..I wasnt sure if it was worth talking to my primary about or not...What do u think fatontheinside??? As u said u work for an insurance company so may know that answer better idea then me....

I would say YES contact your insurance company first and find out what their coverage criteria is...and then contact your doctor. Be specific that if you stop using the powder, your rash comes back. Once you know the info with your insurance company, you can have your doctor submit for you. Oh my goodness! Good luck!!!!! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
