Hello everyone!

I just had my operation on Monday, the 23rd. I found this forum and thought I would share a bit of my history.

I learned how out of control my weight had become by accident. My little brother used to save all our cans and recycling so he could offset his allowance. You go to the plant and they weigh your car before and after. You get paid the difference. We unload and go to weigh out. I wanted to grab the receipt from the clerk so I had to step out. The scale dropped massively. The clerk (and myself) were shocked. I had made it up to approx 650lbs.

I dropped my brother back off at home and I realized I had to make some changes.

Over the years I managed to get down to about 510. I stalled there for a couple years so I decided to opt for the surgery. I got down to 470 as of the date of the surgery.

Pain was pretty high, just today getting up easier. Looking forward to getting back into the gym and boxing again. My goal weight is (just an idea in my head, no science) is about 230. Looking forward forward to seeing what the thinner me is like.

Good luck to everyone in their progress also!

Oh wow. Welcome! It sounds like you've made great progress so far. When was your surgery? Sounds like it was very recent.

Congratulations on getting down to 470 for your surgery date... and congrats on having the surgery, too!

My pain was the worst on Day 4 after the sleeve. After that, my pain stuck around for another couple of weeks, but it was way less than the first 4 days after surgery. Also, I didn't have the dreaded gas pains that you will see others talk about on here. So I was thankful for that.

I'm at almost 11 weeks post op. My only regret is that I didn't have this surgery sooner!

I wish you the best and a speedy recovery. :)

Thanks! I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic, so I don't expect too much. ????

Well no matter what, you have already come a really long way. I think you can reasonably expect to lose at least another 150-200 pounds post-op. It's really up to you how well you stick to your plan and how active you are. Just make sure you do be kind to yourself and allow yourself to heal up from the surgery. Don't push too far too fast.

Congratulations! Don't freak out if your weight loss stalls a bit in the next week or so. Almost all WLS patients experience a stall in their third week.

I've been reading that. I'm trying to get my mind right for it. I'll be starting at the gym on Monday morning (cardio only until I feel 100%), but I'm hoping that will help.

Well, I'm definitely within that 3rd week stall. I'm trying to focus on the fact that there's no way to maintain the weight I have, with the food I'm taking in.

Went to the auto show yesterday. As a big car guy, it's always been bittersweet. I love cars, but don't fit in half of them, lol. This year was much better! I was excited to see what the weight loss had done. Last time I went, I was about 520. This year, 446.

Quick reference. I did play football as an offensive and defensive lineman in school, so I guess I have to accept some cars aren't going to work no matter what. [emoji35][emoji3]

Corvette - lol, I don't think this one is ever going to happen my shoulder was sitting over on the other seat.

Mustang - actually fit comfortably.

Audi TT- only got in because the Audi guy was adamant, lol. But he was right. Damned if I didnt fit. With some more weight loss, it would be downright roomy.

Cadillac CTS-V - last go rounds heartbreak. Success, this time!

Can't wait to see next year!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
