Hi Lorid,

Great to hear from you. How encouraging to hear all these positive messages about the lap band - makes me feel like I have made a good choice. Just have to have the op now!

hello, I am Hilary from Australia. I am hoping to be banded in the near future and have my appt with the surgeon tomorrow. I have to lose about 30kg which is about 66lb I believe to get within a healthy range (but not at the old WW ideal weight). I am 49, work part time as a school counsellor and am studying this year part time also. I have a great supportive husband and three boys aged 11 19 and 21. I am looking forward to chatting to both experienced and inexperienced bandsters.:)

Hello Hilary! Welcome!

Hi Hilary, I'm from Perth and am being banded on Tuesday 3rd October (only 3 sleeps to go!!). I am really nervous and excited. I am so glad to have found this website. Everyone is so encouraging, and I have learned so much in the last couple of weeks. Good luck to you and I will keep you posted how my surgery goes.

Well Striver I guess at the moment I am feeling as impatient as you. Did I tell you before that my surgeon wants me to wait awhile, not diet and not weigh myself? I think he thought I wanted to rush too much. I don't see him till some time in November. I have to change the date as I have to prepare a presentation for a uni conference ( and that is daunting enough) the day after the original date I was given. Let's keep in touch.

Hi Hilary,

I am also just starting out on my lapband journey. I have had my 1st visit with the nurse and am booked in for surgery on the 27th Nov. I am seeing my surgeon today. Dr. Blair Bowden at the Wesley here in Brisbane. I know I have to do this but I am a bit hesitant about the pre and post liquid diet, if I was good at the liquid diets I wouldn't need to lose 45kg!:hungry:

I am keen to hear how things go for you. Good Luck!

Hi Julie-Ann,

I'm also waiting on by banding date. I wouldn't worry too much about the post-op liquid diet, from what I understand you don't really feel like eating anything solid for a while anyway. But once you get past the clear Fluid stage the rest isn't too bad - just blend what you want to eat add some Water or milk so that it is liquid enough and drink it down.

Good luck with your journey.

Danna

Hi Jessica, Would love to hear how you get on at your first appt. I thought my first appt would get me an op date too seeing as I had seen all the other people they refer you to, but the dr said he wants to see me later in November to probably set a date for school holidays. In the meantime I have started really upping the exercise, and am walking weekdays, go to the gym and do weights 3x (once with trainer on Saturdays).

Julie-Ann, all the best for the op. Don't forget the liquid diet is only for a specific amount of time, so at least you can count down days to the op. I will have to do Optifast for two weeks before the op.

Danna, How are you going? This waiting game seems soooo long doesn't it? Hope you get a date soon.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
