Such a mix of emotions right now-mostly excited to do it already! I have a 2-week pre-op diet of only liquids. I wish I could jump ahead to 2 weeks post-op. Not looking forward to the pain, anesthesia, recovery etc. After that I hope it will be just a new shiny path. Would love to keep in touch with all of you other March people. I look on these forums every day, and have so much appreciated all of the insight everyone has shared. Also, is there anyone in Spokane, WA having surgery in March? Would love to meet some face-to-face surgery buddies! Edited February 10, 2017 by LGN900 typo and forgot a line 1 Snuka reacted to this

JenDal34 4 Posted February 10, 2017 Anyone else think it's weird that some people have to do the 2 week fast and others don't? My surgeon requires nothing other than no eating or drinking past midnight the day before surgery. Obviously he wants me to start making changes now to help prepare me but I don't have to do any liquid diet or anything at all. Phoenix40 66 Posted February 10, 2017 I think it depends on your BMI, Current weight and health status. I've heard that a high BMI will result in a two week liquid diet. I'm preparing myself for that. 1 LGN900 reacted to this
JenDal34 4 Posted February 10, 2017 I went to a 5 hour pre op class and all 20 of us have the same rules though. And some people were much bigger than others. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Sleeve1stFitNext 924 Posted February 10, 2017 It is based on the amount of fat around your liver mostly. If you have fatty liver disease, it can cause the liver to get in the way and prevent surgery. The goal is to make the liver smaller. This is mainly offered to persons whom carry fat in their midsection. I have fatty liver disease so I will have a 2 week liquid diet. Some people have to do 3 weeks and others only need 1 week. It all depends on your body. In addition, surgeons also can decide what is safe for the patients. A liquid diet may cause more damage than good. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 1 MissMellyMell reacted to this
rdy2Bsleeved 10 Posted February 10, 2017 I'm March 8th! The dr said I have to go in one week before for a preop appointment but he hasn't said anything about a liquid diet before hand? Maybe he will in my preop appointment [emoji47]Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
