6 days post op. Pain/lump below port incision?

Recommended Posts

I hope this is nothing but its going to bug me until I ask this!:)

Im 6 days out and Ive been doing pretty good so far. This evening my port area is really sore and when I was pushing on it to feel if there was swelling or anything, I feel a lump directly under my port incision. My incision looks good, no redness or drainage so Im hoping its scar tissue. I did have a more "strenuous" day today. I went to see Good Luck Chuck where I tried not to laugh because it hurt and then I went grocery shopping. My follow up appt is Tuesday. Do you think I should be concerned that I am hurting more today than I was the last couple days or do you think its normal?:help:

Yeah, I have the same thing. I think it's scar tissue, but not sure. It's only on that one incision to the far far left. Weird. The other incisions don't have much scar tissue if any at all. I think it's normal.

How's your doctor in Reno? I'm in sacramento and still looking for a fill doctor. Reno's only a 3 hour drive.

I have heard a lot of people have tenderness especially at the port site. My doctor said it is because the port is sewn to the muscle so it won't move. The other incisions are just sewn shut with no muscle involvement. As far as the bump goes, are you sure it isn't the port you feel? I can feel mine easily through my skin. In any case it is normal for the port site to be most tender.

Im glad to hear you are experiencing it too. I am in nursing school and I took 3 days off last week for surgery. If I were to get an infection and miss more school, it would really mess things up for me.

My surgeon in Reno is awesome. Im really happy with him. Of course I havent actually met the girl who does fills but everyone seems to like her.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
