Hello Everyone,

This is my first time posting, I am currently pre-op 4 out of 6 months in. Initially signed up for gastric bypass but since doing a little more research I have decided I want the gastric sleeve because my biggest fear is LOOSE SKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to loose weight to quickly (bypass) and then my skin doesn't keep up. I'm very comfortable in my body even currently weighing 371lbs. I'm getting this surgery because I know I need help and I do want to be healthy but honestly the thought of skin (without fat lol) hanging from my body not only scares me but makes me feel highly uncomfortable. I really don't want to offend anyone, I just want some reassurance that maybe its not that bad.... :( :(

First of all...I've been sleeved and the loose skin struggle is real. I can't say whether it would be worse if I had full bypass, but its there for sure. Mostly at 14 weeks post surgery, it's just bunchy and crepe-y. I worried about it, but now...I could care less. Walking without getting out of breath, getting out of a chair without plotting, planning, and waiting for an act of congress, or seeing my feet when I look straight down...those things are all more important than loose skin to me. Don't worry about it. You can't control it anyway. Sit back, do what you need to do, and enjoy the ride. Worry about the loose skin when and if it happens.

Congratulations for being 2/3 done with pre-op!

I was sleeved 7 June 16. Starting weight was 140kg or 310lbs, current weight is 86kg or 190lbs.

I was worried about loose skin as well and I defs see a Tummy Tuck and breast lift or augmentation in my future. But when you drop 10 dress sizes to a size you never remember being as an adult you stop worrying about it so much lol

I'm lucky with regard to my arms, I notice the loose skin but no one else seems too and I'm still comfortable wearing short sleeves.

Loose skin or not this was defs the best decision I've ever made for myself and I feel amazing I'm now able to play competitive sport again and kill it at the gym. I'm also able to shop for clothes anywhere I want and they're not super expensive.

All the benefits far out weigh the loose skin and exercising will help a little if you set up a routine and stick to it as soon as you're cleared by your surgeon. Hope this helps

Hate to say this, but you will have loose skin with the sleeve too. It all has to do with genetics, age, amount of weight that needs lost, etc. If you have stretch marks now, the chance of loose skin is great. It's a sad fact of being obese and then trimming down to a normal weight.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
