Whose had lap band for 3+ yrs with no complications?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone on here had their band for more then 3 yrs? And for those of you who have, did you have any complications? I am curious how long term this band holds up. I dont want to have to go in every 2 yrs and have my band readjusted or replaced. Or have something go wrong with the port. My main reason for worrying about this is the fact that I am on Medicare due to being on Social Security disability. There is a very good chance that I might go off of disability if I lose all this weight. I really think that my health may improve enough for that. I am afraid that I wont have Medicare in a few years to pay for any complications. I already have my husbands insurance now and any WLS is excluded.

I passed my 3 year mark in July, and I have had no complications. I'm not at goal yet, but that's not a complication of the band, it's a complication of my head :).

I dont consider not being at goal yet a complication at all. I think you have done great. I will be happy with your results. I am ok with slow and steady.

I was banded over three years ago. :)

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
