Why? Why? Lol. I'm on Clear Liquids for another 2 days, then on to full liquids. I am so hungry. No interest in the chicken stock- it tastes gross to me now. Sometimes I get miso down ok. Drinking Water and popsicles. Sometimes juice. Shouldn't I be less hungry post-op?

I am now 20 days post op and for the first 2 weeks I was hungry all the time. I would wake up feeling like I was starving to death. It was real hunger and not head hunger and it didn't go away by drinking. Actually I never felt full even once during my first 2 weeks. Then I moved to puree foods and now I feel much better. I still get hungry but it is natural hunger. I now wake up feeling fine and eat Breakfast then I get hungry a few hours later when it is time for the next meal. I also now get very full on puree food but it doesn't last for a long time unless I eat too much.

I am in the same situation as you!! I'm one week out and always hungry. I have been so discouraged. I spoke with my NUT today and she said to add two scoops of Protein powder to 8 oz of milk. That has been a game changer!! I finally felt what full felt like. Good luck!!

I guess it's good habit reinforcement bc if I'm going to change my eating habits, I'll still be making meals for my child. I've got to learn not to graze off her plate. That's one of my waiting issues

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
