So I was accepted into the program and go to the 4 hour class in a few days. They said they're going to weigh us and to wear light clothes. Anyone gone through thia recently? Do they weigh you in your clothes? Make you remove your shoes?

I'm going to South Sacramento.

So, they just check you in, weigh you, then you go into the class?

In front of other people? Or in a separate room?

It was in front of the class but the line was set back so no one could see your weight. But each location does things differently. Richmond keeps the process moving. I had orientation 10/21 could have had surgery 12/19 but it was too close to my husband on 12/21 so mine was 1/9.

I would wear heavier clothes. For Kaiser you have to lose 10% of your highest weight in the last 12 months to be scheduled for surgery so the heavier you are for initial weigh ins, the better (unless you've already had a high weight recorded for this 12 months which is higher than you are now)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
