Financing?

Recommended Posts

Most docs American and Mexican have their own companies that they use for financing. I didn't finance mine, I wrote a check so I can't speak from personal experience but I know there are a number of folks here that have done it.

Hopefully this post will bump it up to the top and others can chime in with personal experience.

I paid $4K cash and financed the rest I financed mine through Medicredit , If I remeber correctly My credit score was around 625 at the time and they pulled equifax ( I can check on that for sure ) to check your credit, they do not pull all 3 credit reports everyone uses someone different.

There is also several others, But Medicredit financed me even with a bankcruptcy less than 2 yrs old on my credit , so I would have to say they are one of the "easier' ones to get financed through . My interest rate is HIGH though its like 20 something percent BUT if I Pay it off in the first yr any interest I pay will be refunded, so basically interest free if you pay it back the first yr .

There is also

CareCredit Patient financing Payment Plans for LASIK, Dental and Vision Financing

Cosmetic Surgery, Dental Procedures, Vision Costs and more: Healthcare Financing

monarch finance group

There might be a few others I can find as well.

Let me know if you need any help. what i would suggest is go to myFICO - FICO Credit Scores; Get a Free Credit Report Online with our Score Watch Trial and pull your fico scores. You wont get your actual FICO Scores unless you go to myfico.com . Pull your scores and find out what they are . If they are anything above 600 you should be good to go .

If they are below 600 I can tell you what to do to get them up enough to get a loan . I waited so long just to get financing . It wasnt until I fixed my credit that I was able to get my band . I know how frustrating it is to have to wait. Let me know if I can help you in anyway , this group has been so helpful to me i enjoy paying it back anyway i can

HTH.

Mindy, thank you so much for that information. I just pulled my score and it was 609...I thought it would be much higher because I got a great interest rate when I refinanced my car. Oh well. Hopefully I can get approved. I think I will need to finance pretty much the whole thing.

This is very much a personal decision and therefore none of my business, however, since this is a discussion forum I will weigh in.

I would strongly suggest you consider taking the time to save the money and paying cash rather than financing. While this is obviously a better monetary strategy than financing, I suggest it more because of the nature of the surgery itself.

As other people have mentioned, lap band is really more of a tool to help you enable weight loss as opposed to a solution in and of itself. That means that, even after the surgey, a substantial amount of self discipline around changing bad habits will be required to be successful.

To my mind, a great way to start down this path of self discipline is to impose on yourself the financial self discipline required to put aside the money every month and save until you have enough to pay for the surgery outright. If you do that, then you will have earned it, its value to you will be higher, and it would seem that you will have a higher probability of long term success.

So, that's my unsolicited two cents.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
