Weightloss before surgery

Recommended Posts

I'm currently waiting on approval from my insurance company and have been following the diet given to me by my nutritionist. I've cut back on portions, getting more Protein and drinking more Water. I go walking 3 times a week and do exercises at home as well. I haven't lost a pound on my own. I started this 2 weeks ago. I bounce between 253 and 256 everyday. It's very discouraging and I'm afraid it will affect me being approved for surgery by my doctor. What else can I do?

Some times eating less of something that's no so good for you is still bad for you even if you reduce the portions. Have you tried doing a food journal yet? A lot of "healthy" meals I was eating weren't so healthy. It isn't that they were bad per se, but there were way more calories in them than I thought. Doing a journal can be a pain, but it is well worth it to see exactly where you're at with calories. Little things can add up quickly, such as Condiments, salad dressings, etc. Those little things could make or break you for a day and you may not realize it.

Second thing is do not stress as much about the scale. It isn't uncommon to see fluctuations in weight depending on how much Water you've had, time of day, etc. My weight goes back and forth all the time. The scale can be your worst enemy so don't get caught up weighing throughout the day. It's better to way yourself once a week at the same time.

Try bumping up your activity level. Try to walk a little bit faster, find an area that has more hills and is more challenging, or try mixing in weights if you aren't already. Don't get discouraged. Starting out is rough.

Portion size might be smaller, but make sure you are eating the right amounts, try reducing total daily carbs to <30g per day or ask your Nut for a daily allowance of Protein, carbs and sugar, as they know your specific situation.

Don't worry, it will come off!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
