Hey all,

I haven't been on for a couple of weeks so I thought I'd catch up.

Paul, well done on your loss so far, I wish you were measuring in lbs, not kilos... my conversion skills are rubbish, but I think you've overtaken me now? Good on ya and keep going!

Freckles, from what you mention you are eating sometimes, if I were you I'd definitely feel like I didn't need another fill! I've not really lost much in the last 2 to 3 weeks so I don't think I have restriction yet. I can eat as much as I like as long as I take it really slowly.

I tend not to finish meals completely as they have usually gone cold before I can finish, but that's the only reason why. I think I might be doing this wrong though, I get backing up after a few mouthfuls, then I wait for that bit to pass through the band and start again! I should probably stop eating at the first bit of backing up! But really, that can happen after two mouthfuls so that can't possibly be right can it?? I can pretty much eat anything at the moment.

I tend to avoid chips as they can be quite painful. Fresh bread goes down easily, but oddly enough toast doesn't, I was told it'd be the other way round!

As I've had 3 fills and now have 6ml in my band, I was hoping I could do a few months before my next fill, but I think I should get to Manchester on 8 July.

Jo, if you were at your sweet spot, the food wouldnt pass through your band that fast hunny.

Think of like this, you no longer have your normal size stomach, you now have a smaller version, so the food should stay in it until your stomach digests it just like it used to when you had your big one, if that makes sense.

So if its passing through then you havent got enough restriction yet.

Remember that lady from Ireland that was in the waiting room with us last time, she endorsed that when I suggested thats what it should be like. ( collagen lips)

You should be able to eat anything albeit in small portions, thats what Michael told me anyway, but I do steer clear of bread, like yourself its painful, as are chips.< /p>

I cant eat thick Soup either, which is weird.

Anyway good luck everyone with the weight losses.

Well done Paul and Garry on your fabulous weight loss.

Jo a kilo = 2.2lbs lol. I always weigh in kilos myself.

I am in London! Just got here from NY Saturday. My trip to Brussels is booked and I'm leaving on Wednesday. I'm getting a little nervous about the post-op diet. Does the doctor give specific written instructions or is it just sort of up to us to figure it out ourselves? I'm not familiar with the foods here in London and have no idea what to buy for the two weeks immediately post-op. Any suggestions?

Hello Neennicole, welcome!!

Dr Chris recommends a low fat diet for the 2 weeks, in order to shrink your liver. You may also want to buy some Milk Thistle pills which are great for cleansing the liver.

Good luck hunny.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
