Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

Freckles - Ok you miserable old fart! (don't believe a word of it) hopefully see you there hun. I'm 5'6, dark curly hair and may well have a dark-ish green coat on.

Garry - Thanks hun, I still have a long way to go, slow and steady. I hear what you are saying about the Soup. After the op I wasn't hungry at all, probably because of the swelling, and could only manage HALF a tin of soup!! I'm guessing that's what restriction feels like?

Wannabe - Just to clarify, when are you planning on setting off home? You are in hospital the night of the operation and until early afternoon the day after, then they like to see you the following day just to check everything is ok. Are you sayig you want to leave Brussels the day after your op? I'd personally say that's too soon (and people reckoned I handled it better than most), but everyone is different. I'd advise going getting the strongest dissolvable co-codamol you can get or equivalent. The paracetamol they give you at the hospital is ok, but I found my co-codamol to be better.

Kerry - somehow I managed to forget you were going this week!! Good luck honey, though I'm positive you won't need it. x

Paul - Update please!! I'm bursting to know how you got on hun. Hope you aren't too sore. x

hi jo jo no i was thinking of doing the 3 day thing the night before the hos, then the hos day then the next day in hotel and then going home does that make sense ? lol:unsure:

Well its official - I am a nervous wreck !!

Finished work today so I can have a nice relaxing day tomorrow before I fly out on Thursday for my operation - just want it over and done with now

Not heard from Paul yet but I am sure he is fine and is well on his way to recovery.

Good luck to everyone going for the op over the coming weeks and I look forward to sharing our experiences over the coming weeks and months

Kerry

Lucky you Kerry being off today, I am in work and my stomach won't stop churning.

Will meet you in the hotel tomorrow night, before you know it this will be a distant memory too.

I wonder how Paul is as well, hopefully we will hear from him soon.

Thanks to everyone for their support on this journey and I hope our experiences will help everyone else in this.

Susan:smile:

Good luck Kerry and Susan, though you wont need it, you will be well cared for.

Jojo, I'll watch out for you, usually when you go to the reception desk and tell her you're there to see frederik she tells you which room to go to, where you wait till freddyboy calls you in. Its never very long, I'm usually in and out in less than 30 minutes, depending on how many patients are there.

I'm not miserable I just have one of those faces where people always say 'cheer up it might never happen' which infuriates me cos i HAVE A NORMALLY MISERABLE FACE LOL, sorry for the caps. Anyway will hang on for you if I dont see you, I'll have to drink the Water anyway before he'll let me go home.

Glad you're on your way home Paul, and glad its all over for you.

Ya big wimp lol, I think the discomfort must differ from person to person, cos I had the second band implanted which was much the same as the first, another 5 incisions, but some pain in the port area due to my surgeon having to cut the old band out cos it had attatched itself to my muscles....It wasnt so much bad pain as a burning sensation, they gave me Kalpol and it worked ok, I was just so delighted to have had it done, I didnt care what I went through.

I think the rest whilst in hospital is very important, I was operated on at 11am, out of the theatre by 12:30 and stayed in the hospital until lunchtime the next day.

Then as I said we drove from Southampton back to Runcorn.

The journey didnt trouble me at all. Maybe it was the morphene still in my system???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
