:cursing:No they know I wont change my mind but I am thinking they are thinking (if you know what I mean), hell if she gets thin with this band then we are going to show her we can get thin the NATURAL WAY. Maybe I am paranoid but I dont think so. J x

Well I'm sorry hun, but even if they lose it the "natural way" they will put it back on the "natural way" too and more.

We have all tried every diet and food fad over the years to know that nothing works in the long term, except surgery.

Saying that..... atm I'm reading that Jon Gabriel book, the guy who shed loads of weight without dieting or surgery and has no loose skin.

Yes Freckles dont we know how easy it is to put it back on.:tongue_smilie:Timeisnow I cant believe Im actually doing this. Is there times when your apprehensive, not about the band but the operation itself. Sometimes Im waking up in the middle of the night and thinking about this and at the moment its in the forefront of my mind all the time. I am bombarding my hubby about details of this. I think he will be bored with me by the time the operation comes around. I must not be a band bore, but its so hard to talk of anything else at the moment. J x:tt2:

yeh i know how you feel homecare, just the same a bit apprehensive re the actual surgery/aftercare as we are not covered if anything were to go wrong?

but if i could i would actually do it sooner as for me i then know the major risk part is done im back home so take it from there!

Lol, iv just shown them to dave.. they may tell you to do the surgery over a couple of ops, that is a lot of surgery you want and your body might not be able to take it all at once but im sure when you go for your consulatation they will tell you everything. She did look good after tho didnt she x

Ok I admit it - I feel like a freight train has run me over and I AM thinking what the hell did I do?? Banded May 21st..

My restricton came away today - was quite surprised as i didn't eat anything for the first 2 days as such... now I felt hungry for the first time.

Thanks for the arnica tips also - i look a little like an addict right now - and on the trip home got looked at a lot like - "what did you do????"... lol...

any suggestions for newly banded bander for food in the first 2 weeks??? or did everyone just stick to slim fast and cup a Soup? ?

thanks

Hey wishfull... getting there - was a bit disappointed that I did feel that way as so many people said they felt fine the next day.

I did have to have a blood transfusion so that could also add to it. I feel ok with paracetemol. Port site is the only one that really hurts.

We drove to and from Belguim and I'm really pleased, it worked out well - on the ferry back there was 50 or so American tourists and hundreds of mini drivers heading for Silverstone - the bruises look pretty bad on me because of the transfusions and numerous blood tests etc - so both arms have numerous large bruises, forearm, back of arm...

The american tourists kept looking at me and shaking their heads in pity... it was funny actually... how they assumed they knew everything.

5 weeks - you must be so excited!!

Dr Chris said I'd feel this way so I feel better - just disappointed I wasn't one of the lucky ones who got to be fine quickly ...

it'll happen. I'm booking my first fill for 4 weeks...

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
