Freckles 0 Posted March 11, 2009 :w00t::rofl: Mmm you are bad, you just made me spit my coffee all over the keyboard...I dont belive you did that. Good luck to you Mandy, listen to the girls on here they know what they are talking about. Welcome Samspk, hope you get banded asap. KaKa 9lbs????? Wow she has done really well, I've only lost 3 kilos, since before I started the pre-op diet and had the surgery. But I think the no smoking is stopping me losing cos I keep turning to food....not a good thing.:mad2: Also the area where my port is is so swollen its sticking up for fine weather when I lie down, it seems really big!!! Did anyone else have this?:wink2:
mmm 0 Posted March 11, 2009 Hi Mandy, and you are already one of the family here. Everyone on here knows how your feeling its exciting, and your wound up and you have made your decision, and just want it sorted NOW. But a few days of frustration will pay dividends in the longer term the offer of the op will not go away. Frederk operates, does fills in several countrys and deals with enquirys, but he will get back to you. Then you can make your committment, which ever route you choose, it'll be made for the right reasons and not because of excitement. good luck
mandyfielding 0 Posted March 11, 2009 lol freckles, I did something very much the same b4 xmas, I was told that my BMI had to be 40 or over to have the gastric band donw on the NHS. Think you all know what it is like the few mths b4 xmas, all the partying, drinking, eating, the weight just piled on:unsure: So by the time I went to docs, My BMI was at the rite level, I was not told I would have to wait a few years for the op, our nearest hossi has not been given the funds this year, so guess what I have no chance. Thats why I have had to look to funding it myself
mmm 0 Posted March 11, 2009 Sorry Freckles, hope your key board all cleaned up now, its really strange how you can shrink and gain weight in Belgium, its the only place that has had that effect, and guess what, when I returned home I grew and lost weight- how strange, But seriously I knew what I was doing, (and so did Dr chris i'm sure) because I've gone through it all with my daughter, and knew what the op involved and I'm past child bearing age, so there was little risk, the only thing is he told me was it did.nt always work well unless the BMI is around 40 or more. I was too heavey for liposuction and not heavy enough for a band, so whats a woman to do - except change her height and all women lie about their weight at some stage in their lives, dont they

mooster 0 Posted March 11, 2009 Gary knows my secret, I shrunk 1. inch and gained 10 lbs the night before my op (oooooppppppsssssss) it must have been the belgium air or the metric conversions.Nobody checked height and weight at any time, but I did'nt have a uk consultation Hi mmm, Does Dr Chris not do the consultations at his home now, the night before surgery? When I got my band last August, I saw him the night before, and got weighed as he worked out my BMI (which I already knew). Mind you, they have started doing the x-rays since I got my band as they werent doing them back in August! Kath.x.

They lasted for weeks! Kath.x.

Kath.x. :crying: No Fred comes to hotel the night before, and Dr Chris sees you in hosp the morning of the op, its the first time you meet, I believe one of the naughty sisters actually met him for the first time in the operating theatre. You have missed a nasty tho, that barium that you have to drink when you are having the xray is horrid, but its kinda cool to see the photos with the barium going through the band to the stomach, and its a laxative, but it also helps to get rid of the wind downwards.
Freckles 0 Posted March 12, 2009 and its a laxative, but it also helps to get rid of the wind downwards. what Mmm means is, it gives you the fartys Mandy but she's too nice to say it. Oh no Garry, dont say that..... my last band wasnt like that. It is very tender but not inflamed, just sticks up...I spose there's time for it to go down yet though Mooster. It woke me up last night because of the discomfort.:crying:
wishfull 1 Posted March 12, 2009 Ow! You are so lucky! Romance is such a lovely thing. Will he be expecting a treat in return? Sorry, can't help myself! I know that that would be the case hear! It's not fair, my husband is such an Ogre and not a nice one like Shrek! He just says Bah hum bug to every thing! On Valentines day I gave him a nice romantic card, a bouquet of Roses and a box of chocolates, that was in the morning, in the evening I did a romantic candle lit dinner for two. What did he do....I hope you're not expecting anything, you know I don't believe in this rubbish!Oh, you enjoy it wishful, keep the romance going as long as you can. Fatpants Its ok we spoil eachother, im glad i got him some things or i would of felt really crap, even though i got him things for our weekends of walking (hardly romantic). but what do you get a man??? i got dave roses for valentines and he looked shocked as he has never had flowers before. Its funny really i have known dave for over 20 years but we only got together 2 years ago as we both married and got on with our lives.
wishfull 1 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi mandy, if tulliie gets in touch agai (and she will) tell her you have booked with someone else who is cheaper, she wont like it but if you dont say anything she will hound you day after day (she did with me). i booked with bridget at europesurgery, she was very nice and cheaper, if you are going to book surgery do your sums and get prices for flightes, hotels, transfers and surgery and then get a price to book direct with dr chris and see what you come up with. good luck x
