HI.. my daughter put it on facebook!!.. could have killed her..

I havent booked a fill yet.. papers on desk this morning to ring manchester but this double fill in belgium sounds interesting.. any details, like is it safe ,and how much?? If it sounds ok, then maybe we could consider going at the same time. .. have a day sight seeing... but, hey, you've managed that... I only saw the hotel room!!,...lol...

by the way, where have all the other recent bandsters gone??

Awwww sounds like your daughter was really proud of you. I booked my fill today but decided to go to London because i have used all my leave up, its for the 27th Nov but if i find im struggling i will also book a double fill for Jan maybe when I get some leave back.

Dr Chris does the double fill at his place with the Xray. Its costs £50 but not sure if thats for both the fills or just the one, and yes I think it is safe because he is the best lol and because you stay overnight after the first fill then go the next day for the other, so quicker restriction hopefully.

I dont know where they have all gone lol I think a few of them email directly to each other but hope they come and visit every now and again.

Glad you are feeling better. I felt really hungrey today and even had the porridge that was yum but I could of eaten a lot more :crying:so cant wait for the next stage

thanks, i think we have to make our own way to the hotel and to the hospital they were not included in our price plan, but i wonder if anyone will come thurs night.

Hi joyoyoung, if your appointment is with Dr.Chris on Thursday you will have to go and see him at his surgery, then on Friday make your own way to the hospital which is only about 10 mins away and will cost about 10 euros if you are staying in Valvoorde. Good luck, dont worry everything is going to go just fine:thumbup:

Thank you Chrissy..Im only telling a few people too as I dont want the negative people, especially the playground mafia at my kids school to know!..When I get my weight down, they might want me in their skinny jeans/ugg boot gossip club! lol! I dont think so! I do have a few trusted friends big and small who will support me and will keep it to themselves,,but I have a feeling Ill get a lot of support from people like you on this brilliant forum..Its so good reading all the way through from before you were banded...to post banding..I wish you all every success, and will follow your messages over the weeks..I have 6 stone to lose, but will be very happy with 4 or 5 depending on how my skin fits, its been stretched for so long,it wont just spring back! thanks for your replies. I hope you wont mind me asking for info along the way..I keep thinking of all kinds of things! Im off to work now, gotta make as much money as poss before Jan 9th! Gillian x

Hi,

I was banded 2 weeks ago and I have some doubts, maybe those of you with more experience can help me out.

I started eating some fish in my Soup, and other soft solid food. Sometimes I swallow too fast ans it hurts awfully on my back. Is this normal?

I'm very afraid of stretching my small stomach, Dr Chris told me I just couldn't do it, but I read here that it sometimes happens. Do the bands Dr Chris use help prevent the band from moving?

My tummy is still very swollen and hard, I can feel the port under my skin, will it always be like this?

How much do you eat? I can have 3 dls of Soup with no problem or pain.

thank you everyone.

And good luck for those travelling to Belgium soon. Im sure you wont regret it. I hate doctors and hospitals and I was so afraid I cried my eyes out the day before surgery. In the end I had nothing to be afraid of, everyone is so nice and sweet the only thing I regret is not having had the courage to do this sooner.

Hi All

I know everyone is different re the amount of fills they need to get a good restriction but please read this before you go for double fills.

I had my first fill on the 23rd September (3ml). I didnt feel any difference so went back for another fill on the 14th October. The doctor only put in another (0.5ml) which I was really annoyed about but he said they didnt recommend bands being filled too quickly and said even a small fill could make a big difference. I went away feeling far from optimistic but guess what he was right!!! The difference the 0.5ml has made is amazing. I had half a muffin for Breakfast and couldnt eat any more. For lunch I had vegetable Soup with stewed steak mixed in and could only eat about half a cup before feeling full.

I have lost another 4lb since the fill and feeling really positive again.

When you get the right restriction, these bands are amazing!!

hi.

DR chris told us that the band is very unlikely to slip due to better placement. Nobody can say slippage will never happen..Is it only pain on swallowing you experience or nausea as well?.. has this been happening since the band placement?..

Try going back to liquids for a day or so..give your stomach a rest..

Have your gp look at your stomach wounds.. might simply be bruising. Its early days and things are still settling down. I was banded 8 days ago.. still have discomfort at wound sites.. but problems with pain on swallowing seem to have settled..

Hi Eleonora, I was banded 11 weeks ago and I can still feel my port under the skin, so I guess it's one of those things we have to put up with! Considering all the benefits we get from the band, it's a small price to pay.....don't you agree?

Hi EnglishRose, Glad to hear you've had your second fill, did you go to your local hospital again, or see Dr Chris? I guess you've reached that elusive "sweet spot", that everyone talks about? I have another 3 weeks to wait until I see Frederick in Manchester for my second fill. Can't wait as I've slowed right down to just 1 lb a week now. Still, can't complain, at least I'm still losing!

Kath.

Hi Mooster

I had both fills at my local private hospital which is only 2 minutes away from me. Its £75 for a fill so it works out a lot cheaper than going up to London and also Dr Chris only comes over to London once a month. The only downfall of going to my local hospital is that I dont get to see the gorgeous Frederick again!!

Good luck with your 2nd fill I hope you reach your sweet spot soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
