jo_jo 3 Posted February 10, 2012 I've met Bart he's lovely, yes he works for Dr Chris, I met him the first night over in Belgium, he came to the hotel and explained everything and took the money. He was also in the oporating room and he was the last face I saw before I drifted off to sleep, he lent over me and said "your going to sleep now, sweet dreams" :-D x 1 Mini~me~please reacted to this

its4janni 0 Posted February 11, 2012 Crikey did you go from the UK? How come you went all the way over there? That must have been a bit pricey. Were you not able to go to one of his London (or whereever's closest for you) clinics? x Yes I went to Belgium! It took about 7hrs and after having got to the point of not being able to tolerate fluids for 48hrs, Frederik arranged for me to see someone about 20 miles from me to do an emergency defill. Unfortunately he was not able to get any Fluid out and after a unfruitful trip to a&e I arranged to go directly to see Dr Chris as I didnt want to risk anyone screwing my band up. The cost of the round trip including travel, xray and defill was around £250. I got two free fills after that because it was caused by an accidental overfill and I couldnt praise them enough (wouldnt happen with UK provider!) I am tempted to go back because a band xray is due which I believe is about £140 in Manchester plus my consult fee. I can fly to Brussels and stay a night in hotel all for £200 for my hubby and me. I will have to pay for taxis and xray (50Euros I think) but i think it works out about even and I get a naughty trip away so its a no brainer really. Going on a cruise in May so will wait till after then.

Toppings 1 Posted February 11, 2012 Hi there, I did have to go to Dr Chris' house for an emergency defill last year. He has offices in his house, one for consults and another that houses a great whacking great x ray machine! I had a liquid swallow to check the band and a 2ml defill. Taxi waited outside his house and I was in and out within 10 mins. Just a word of warning- terrible diarrhoea about 1 hour after, not good for journey home in car as booked eurotunnel same day return! He did warn me about this but only the second after I swallowed the bloody liquid. Next time will book hotel for the night and get there quickly! Let us know how you get on cos am seriously considering another trip over and incorporate a mini break. Thanks for that warning. Booked a hotel in Brussels so will make sure to get back as soon as possible!! Heading over with another lady from Ireland who also had the band fitted. Trouble is we're sharing a room with one toilet - the little things that bother us bandsters.... Fly out on Wednesday, back Thursday - will post how I get on Slightly worried, but hoping all will be ok
happyflower 1 Posted February 12, 2012 Hi all. For all of you who had their surgery with Dr Chris, what is your experience like? have your met your goal? any complications? would you recommend the band? I am still confused between the band or the sleeve. sharing your views are appreciated. thanks Hi I had surgery with dr Chris, I think you will find everyone on here recommends him. have a look through old posts its really rare but you will find that no one has a bad word to say about him. He is calm, kind, very intelligent. some people are worried about booking abroad but its not been a problem at all for me, because he comes over to the UK for the aftercare and i booked via the europe surgery office in the UK so I can call them whenever I want to get more information about diet or if I am worried about anything. There are not many surgeons in the UK that have that a 12 hour help line if your worried about anything! As for getting the band its the best decision i have ever made! there is no way I would have lost weight on my own. I did not hear good things about the sleeve and thats why i went for the band. I looked into it a lot before I went, but dr chris has the lowest complication rate and as far as I could see was also one of the cheapest. Once you had the band done I would not risk going to another clinic for the fills, I have heard that if they are not experienced they can gap you with the needle so that it really hurts for one! where it does not hurt when Fredrick or Chris does it. But also when people have gone somewhere else if they don't know what there doing they can inject into the band instead of the port and then you would have a whole in your band forever and it would not work. biggerthanaturkey 3 Posted February 12, 2012 Also Dr Chris also have a Facebook presence http://www.facebook....100003093806933 Cx Thanks mummies for posting this I just joined Dr Chris facebook page and seem your pictures! got to say well done! You are giving me hope for a lighter me! I have only just been to Belgium and had it done. I agree with happy flower Chris is very calming and kind and you feel totally that he knows what he is doing. Really Belgium not far I just got the eurostar I live in london and it took 2 hours so really was just like going to Birmingham or Nottingham for the op but loads cheaper. You worry about going abroad but when the aftercare is here and they have a UK office you can call for free advice when your no sure of things you can't really ask for any more. I would prefer to travel for the operation to know I am getting a good surgeon. some of the uk band hospitals don't even say which surgeon your going to get who knows if there just newly trained? Anyway the hospital was great very modern. did anyone else notice they sold alcohol in the restaurant down stairs? lol not that I had any myself !but my boyfriend was really happy to find it there I think it calmed his nerves a bit. Anyway it was lovely the nurses where so kind.

You know i said i had full restriction........... well, i was really ill last week and just drank Water all week. Lost 7lbs, but now i,m not struggling to eat most things. It's weird, i can eat a normal meal ( in very small quantities) whereas i was really struggling before. Bizarre huh? Any ideas? x x
