Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

thats a great loss husk,it feel's fantastic dosn't it,and just think it can only get better and better.And the whole ticker thing,i think i done mine by mistake lol,just go to the ticker factory and try and work it out from there i had a pic up and now dont know how to get one back on lol,well it is a work in progress xx

Ta Slinky, I went to the ticker place and sorted one out, now I just have to mess about a bit and work out how I get it in here.

I'll be posting again soon, so I'll see if I can work it out by then. That will be my mission, should I choose to accept it.blink.gif

Or I might just wait for my partner to come back home, computers are where he excels < oh, little pun thererolleyes.gif

Just off to have a fat free prune yoghurt....never had one before but I'm thinking it might help with the old plumbingmellow.gif

Hi all, I changed my moniker to SlimSindy from husk, thought it seemed a bit more upbeat.smile.gif

Feeling brilliant about having taken the plunge and had a band fitted, also really pleased about having it done with Dr Chris and his team in Belgium.

It is so exciting when I step onto the scales now.....I can't say I have ever felt like

that before about my scales. My weight is decreasing and my confidence is

increasing by the day.

Hope everyone is feeling great and positive in their new life.

Ok, totally mortified - all my shortness of breath etc was very very simple - shouldn't be exercising this soon after surgery, especially as I'm not consuming enough calories to do so (liquid diet).

How embarassing, andd OBVIOUS!

omg cadence i dindnt realize you were exercising you crazy woman lol,i took it easy for about 2-3 weeks and even then i just walked lol,take it easy you will have plenty of time to do all that,to be honest i dont do much exercise and i prob should i might check out the zumba class think that would appeal to me take care hun

Cadence and Slinky, you have both made me feel better. I was feeling bad about not doing any exercise. I had my op about 4 weeks ago, so I'm off the liquids but still eating lots of Soup just because I like it. Anyway, on my way home from the op on the train on my last leg of the journey back home I had my case pushed up against my knees so a man could sit opposite and I think I did something to one of my knees,blink.gif I have left it thinking it would get better over time but I think it is just getting worse. I suppose I will have to go and see my GP. As a consequence I haven't been able to do any exercise either. I hope it gets better soon because I would like to crack on and start doing a bit because I was never very good at doing any exercise before the band and I didn't want to slip back into being that way again

One of my friends has joined a Zumba class and says she really enjoys it, she says it feel more like fun than exercise. Can't imagine that myself lol exercise being fun I mean but I'm willing to give it a go. smile.gif

When I said exercising above, I only meant VERY slow walking, but 25-30 mins at a time, and yes, it was pretty silly in retrospect!

I went to meet a friend yesterday, and skipped my evening meal as it was funny timing, but boy oh boy did I regret it! Felt REALLY ill and weak It's a lot to get used to, but I am really glad I took the plunge too.

I haven't weighed myself yet - I actually have no idea how much I weighed going in to surgery even. I'm really looking forward to weight coming off (pretty please!).

SlimSindy - I've heard Zumba is fantastic too (but get your knee checked first as it's pretty active!). I used to do a class a few years ago called Salsa Slims, and that was great I have to say. It was aerobic salsa, great fun and a weigh in at the start. I think I'll be trying yoga when I'm up to it - certainly more class based things as I HATE gyms. I'll also be using my Wii fit - which I've found is great fun (and I don't feel self conscious as it's in my own room!).

I just got on the scales and I'v lost a total of 22lbs, I can't tell you how pleased I am. I'm so glad I had the band and I'm looking forward to my new life. I'v just got to work out how to get the ticker in here now, hehehehe. Lets see how long it takes me. :^)

Well done that's a fabulous loss. Are you keeping a record of it? Don't forget to measure as I was astounded when I saw that I had lost 93.75 inches over the 12 months plus the pounds. So glad you are pleased.

Take it really easy the body has gone through something major and now we are asking it to use up all the fat that has been stored instead of over feeding it.

Keep a healthy snackin your bag so that you have something to nibble on if you need it. I love cashew nuts and have only just managed after 13 months to start eating them again.

Yoga will be really great, I teach Pregnancy and Well Woman yoga and we need something to combat the weightloss lots of focus on the pelvis and areas where the skin thins (lots of pelvic floors)

There are others on here who use their Wii fit aswell purey for that reason that they are at home.

Enjoy and weigh as soon as you can so that you know where you are starting from and what you are aiming for.

well cadence and slim sindy you have talked me into the zumb im goint to go to the class next wed and i will let you know how i get on.As fo food i found that i lived on Soup and muller yoghurts for about 3 months but as you get more fills you dont feel as hungry,i do find sometimes i cant eat at all so i take a Protein Shake just to make sure im gettin somthing in and as claire said it is good to measure and weigh yourself and keep a chart of how your doing,im crazy forever getting weighed but it is exciting watching your bodyshape change and going down in size,especially when your confident is low as mine was but it defo isnt now i love all the fashion and the comments of people and without being to crude the difference in the bedroom department is red hot lol,hubby thinks im his new bit on the side lol.but just think peep's we all get there in the end and you will all be so much happier for getting the band xx

Good to carry a snack and definately to weigh & measure if there is one thing that really motivated me to keep tabs on myself it was this weekly event on a Friday when I could focus and record it accurately.

Have eaten a lot of soup since the band and still find it difficult to manage real solids. Although saying that the other evening we were in a Harvester and I order the soup only for them to say they didn't have any. I ended up with a bowl of sweetcorn and beetroot and thousand island dressing and the £3.99 small childs option of chicken and jacket potatoe. Managed a few forkfulls of sweetcorn and beetroot and half of the chicken and didn't dare risk the jacket potatoe. At least I had something and then because I had managed to keep hold of it I treated myself to a childs dessert of the Rocky Horror (it was yummy) and yes I shared it with my other half.

lol claire,not sure about the impact on the knees it is like salsa dancing and a few different dance moves to music ive heard you have a real laugh so will let you know how it goes,im away to belfast at the weekend with the kids,were going bowling friday,planet fun theme park saturday and ice skating sunday i will be exhausted come monday happy days xx

Am in a panic, again. :( I've developed weird red streaks on my inner thighs, and I'm away from home so have limited web connection to investigate. Also miles away from a dr. Im trying to find the aftercare coordinators number. Could someone post it for me'? I'm sure it's on the forum somewhere but my connection keeps breaking.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Hello Everyone,

I would like some support from people here as I don't have any in my home life.

I had an emergency defil and now have 5cc in 7cc band. I had 2cc took out as my band was too tight and when I came out of hospital I was faced with my brother's girlfriend saying 'you brought this on yourself and you do silly things'. I told her to 'mind her own ******* business and if she comes in our house she should start to show me some respect'

She has since apologised for what she has said, but I am not interested she apologised to my face and then sent me a text saying sorry but she thinks I need therapy to look at my eating, I mean I have not done too badly and weight 9st 8. I do sometimes revert back to my old eating habits but I am far from perfect. Because of what she said it caused a big family row and she ended up crying and then my parents feel sorry for her, trying to welcome her - which pisses me off.

Can anyone give me advice on how they handled such situations, my mum is miserable and does not like the idea of the band. any advice anyone?

Ohh dear what a mess.

First of all, remember why you wanted to have the band. Not anyone else it wasn't them making the decision to subject themselves to major surgery and the unknown journey that the band presents to us with limitations etc. Along the way we address our eating habits and what we decide to put in our mouths. I have to say my only negative about going to Belgium is the lack of nutritional support when we are back in the UK. My GP commented on this the other day. But I'll stay focused on your post as this is important.

How much have you lost? A lot by the sounds of it. Do you think there is some green eyed jealousy there? You are looking slim and lovely and comfortable with yourself???? Be honest and think about those around you and how they are towards you, the band and the new you.

How do you handle it? Well a couple of options ignore them and it settles down until the next flare up or trigger. It sounds like the defill was a trigger and they reacted because they were worried (in your mums case) and in the cae of the girlfriends (jealousandthat the attention is on you rather than her???

As for her turning the tears on there are some in this world that are brilliant at doing this and making you feellike **** when actually they caused it all. Really pisses me off so tell her to grow up! Also tell her to stay out ofyour business, your body, your weightloss, your band and your healthy future!

Does this solve it? Probably not but it's all about you and yes we are being selfish when we have a band. We are also being responsible hopefully reducing the chance of getting diabetes, heart disease, etc (I know there are no guarantees) but at least we are trying to do something.

Is there a weightloss / band group in your area perhaps with one of the other weightloss / band forums? Perhaps you could take your mum along to one to meet others who have had the band and their partners/parents were worried etc. I know my parents were concerned but they can see the incredible difference it has made to me and my life! Be open and honest and say how you feel, why you wanted to have this done, what were your worst fears? When someone asks you - "How are you?" pause before giving the bog standard "I'm fine". Are you really? Could you share with them what you really feel if you can then do, if not then use the bog standard response.

I hope this helps a little remember that we need positivity in our band world. Yes we are met with challenges like a band getting tight and have to make a decision about whether we defill or work our way through it. ARE YOU HAPPY? If not then ask your GP to refer you to a nutritionist and seek some advice locally. We also will come across people in life who are arrogant, self opinionated and will never see your point of view.

Be gentle on yourself and take it easy, one step at a time.

By the way are you sure you only have a 7cc band as Dr Chris fits the French band and it has a bigger capacity than that. I was told 15mls by Frederik. One of the chaps that was fitted the same day as I was he had a different make with a 20ml capacity. HTH

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
