Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

It's a year today since I was banded.

I'm 50lbs lighter and a whole new person! :)

Chris was great, the op the best thing I've ever done and Wendy at WLS fantastic for post op follow up, support and fills.

I've had interviews wearing new suits and been looked at for the person I am, not the lardy lump I used to be. I've done a return to nursing Uni course and got a great nursing job in the speciality I love.

To any of you having doubts - don't - this op really turns your life around.

Thanks everyone for keeping the forum going, I drop in occasionally and keep up. It was this forum which helped me to decide in the first place. Keep writing and keep losing!

Hi Sher, I'm getting nervous about Thursday too! Trying not to think about it. I think we have Dr Chris doing our fills?

Has anyone seen Vanessa Feltz has been talking about her band in the Big Brother house? She said she's lost 2.5 stone in 11 weeks. I think she's fabulous - go girl!

No-one else going over for the 21st either :-(

Just tried to order my currency but I can't get faster payment to work at the moment so I will try again in the morning.

How did everyone's fills go today?

I have been following various lap band patients on You Tube.

They are not patients of Dr Chris but it reminds me of why I am doing this and what can be achieved with some hard work.

My two favourites are Skymoon and bandedwendy. They are worth a look. They give you the good, the bad and the ugly side of the band. Knowledge is power. Its clear that the band is not an easy option.

Slinky no worries it all took about 10mins - I was so glad to see Dr Chris.

They call you into avery posh room Dr Chris asks who U R and when you were banded he has all your info on his computor. He weighs U and said I was doing well have lost about 16lb. He asks if there have been any prob then a very strict talk about calories, excerise and the rules for the next 5 days.

For 2 days fluids only 2 days mushy food then on day 5 return to eating slowly and chewing really well.

We agreed a 2ml fill I want my weight loss to be slow as worried about being sick and having loads of flab.

I have to go back every month were he does the same again.

It did'nt hurt I didnt even see the needle just uncomfortable for 2 sec when your skin is punctured. After you drink a cup of Water to make sure alls ok. Pay yr £80 and off U go.

There was loads of girls there some on there 2nd fill others worried about the 1st all happy to talk of their experiences most good, but a girl was little upset as no weight loss since her last fill.

Good luck to all about 2 b banded and those going for fills x

Well Done to SP a year on and 50 lbs lighter you must be delighted.

I am starting to adjust now and think I am doing ok with the band - lost another 2 lbs this week which suits me fine.

Still cant eat anything until about 1ish, then can only manage some Soup or something light, try and have healthy tea - last few nights I have been having boiled egg and ryvita - boring I know but not really been hungry. Weird thing is I have never been a chocoholic but recently I have had to start having a small bar everyday - I dont take sugar on anything and feel I need the chocolate to give me an energy boost

Reckon I am about 800 calories a day roughly which i still dont think is enough but it is all I can manage at the moment

Kerry xx

Hi everyone just wanted to ask a couple of questions, if you wouldn't mind giving me some advice anyone. Im away to leave on monday to be banded on tuesday, and was just wondering whether it's just Clear Liquids you can have for the first couple of weeks, as i was going to take sachets for milk shakes etc. Also wondered if anyone else booked through europesurgery? As i have, and not heard anything from them about consultation before hand or anything like that. Just worried that something's going to go wrong now. Had a silly dream last night that i slept in and forgot i wasn't allowed Breakfast and ate it even though i was late and they couldn't do it. Think im spending to much time worrying over nothing, lol. Any advice would be much appreciated!!! xx

Weigh in day today!

I have noticed that I have been feeling really tired but I have put this down to my long days at the moment with being back at school. Thankfully today is Friday and I have a clear day and no school. Work starts again in a few weeks with a baby massage class so should be a very relaxed day. I digress I had a feeling weight loss may have slowed and caught sight of myself last night in a mirror and was appalled at how I looked there are certainly some clothes that I need to avoid wearing as I looked absolutely dreadful. I'll do some 6 week post-op photos to see if I can see any difference.

Anyway down to business I have lost 1.5 lbs and 1.25 inches so a loss but significantly different to previous weeks. Total loss is 21 lbs and 17.25 inches all over. I have a fill in a couple of weeks and this may help although I have been told the magic number is 3! I think I will be able to manage 2 before we are away as I don't want to waste a fill if I then have to have it taken out to fly. So plan to have September and then October fill and then wait till January.

So plan of action I am going to start off doing 15 minutes on the crosstrainer at home and gradually build it up and see if this will help to maintain the weight & inch loss a bit more. Off to the GP this morning to have my bloods for my thyroid checked (which was flagged up when I was in Belgium being banded) as I am due my annual check and see if we can't get the meds reduced.

Have a lovely day and hope everyone s feeling well and dandy.

Hello ladies and gents!!!!

thanks Pinkshaz - I am here!

I had it done and one thing I wanna know - it is 1 WEEK TODAY i was banded and can just say now i feel 9/10 after having the op - no one seems to talk about the pain when had it done? Am i a freak or unique - sounds like you lot had better care over there than me private at Leeds!!! They left me without checking dressings for 3 hours when I discovered gown sheet and duvet saturated in blood - app an arterie had been nicked (superficial not deep) but was freaked out at sheer amount of blood - I needed 2 stitches. 4th/ 5th day I came out in bruises and if i tried to lift or bend I felt 'strings' being pulled and was grateful to have my sister with me at time of op and after (as could barely walk yet alone carry handbag/ suitcase) and thankful to my mum to help bath my kids, pick things up from the floor and put washiing in and wash up as I could not have done any of those things.

Worse thing was not being able to cuddle my babies. I am not scare mongering but trapped gas from op was not nice either - but can say 1 week on I'm feeling back to normal - so wondered what you all were like - am I a 'bad case' or usual? Also Vanessa Feltz on Ult BB stated she went in on the Friday and back to work on the Monday!? 'Work' MUST have been just answering calls or the odd email cos I cannot think of anyone just skipping back so quickly????????

Answers pleeeeease folks?

Also I have been quite open about my surgery to peeps - have you like me noticed a real stir with regards women who you ahve told about your op? I'm sick of justifying cos some say if you reduced what you ate (like I am at mo) you wouldn't need band - but I state I can lose - but NOT maintain. But some women are dead shirty - I went to local docs this am to get 2 stitches out and it is a village surgery but all seemed to know and it was like 'oooooh how are you feeling - let's see scars' (so much for patient confidentiality - and now obv whole village knows) then nurse was really off first words she said was 'how much was it then?' ! Cheek! I didn't know how to react!

Am reckoning/ hoping - nay: knowing I'll be a walking bilboard though and would love to know if I could become the next Bridget etc and earn commission this end of the country!!! LOL!

Anyway I've ranted - my 1st fill is not for a few weeks. Can I just stress though that Dr Dexter was absolutely wonderful - very good and very nice too (wink wink)!!! giggle!

Lovely to read so many positive posts and advice - have a fabulous friday and weekend folks xxx

PS I THINK WE SHOULD ALL DO A BEFORE AND AFTER/ CURRENT PHOTO GALLERY AT XMAS!!!!!!! Watcha think?

Isn't it now so nice to look forward to an occassion as to how you'll look? EEEEK! x

So many questions ... here goes

Yes it was painful and I had difficulty straigtening up and jumping out of bed - I think that's why a lot of us say we were glad to have our partners with us! I know I certainly was.

Level of care in Belgium was brilliant, can't comment about UK for gastric band surgery but my experience of Belgium was superb.

Thank goodness you had support. After all it may be keyhole but it is still surgery and thay are cutting through muscles.

I have a T12 missing in my spine so where most people had the trapped air in their shoulder mine was further down and yes it was crucifying at times. Again thank goodness I had my husband with me and he was the one to always wind the children when they were babies and he was very good at it!

I would imagine that if you live in a small village then nothing is secret and even when you do want it to be kept quiet it will get out. It's none of their business how much it cost or seeing your stitches etc. To those that want to scoff at you about you should eat less well I wouldn't warrant them with a response just ignore them and one day they may regret what they say to you when the boot is on the other foot. It comes to most at some point in their lives.

Remember who you did the surgery for - YOU and to have a better life to enjoy your babies and family, not the strangers. They will soon ohh and ahh over how much you lose. We make a lifestyle choice and it's one that a lot of people have admired in my case as I took control - not of overeating as that was never the issue but of ensuring that I don't end up a diabetic with heart problems and not enjoying life.

Have a super day and take no notice of the numpties!

Everyday you will feel much better and soon be bouncing!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
