Hi Angelfizz - thanks so much. I am starting to eat a more varied diet now that my restriction isn't great including a few on your list in an attempt to fill me up! I couldn't eat them for a good while after being banded.

From my experience you aren't wasting your money. For me it was the best thing I have ever done. I've lost pretty much 6 stone (I know I can't believe it!!) over about 16 months but I've had baby in between so haven't done badly! I would like to lose at least another 2 stone but ideally another 3 and half stone. My journey has slowed down a bit because of the reflux issue but hey it's a marathon not a sprint! I'm confident I'll reach my goal and keep the weight off which I would have no way done without my band. I love it - nothing short of a miracle!!

well done sammy i think your weight loss is fantastic and having a baby in between wow,i cant wait for my first fill its not till 16th sept wish they would have come over this month i hate waiting cause now i can eat anything and do lol, hope all the ones that were feeling poorly are alot better and how are you doing now sher:thumbup:

Its like salsa dancing and aerobics all in one - fantastic fun and really makes you sweat so will burn loads of calories and get you toned up in all the right places

Its the lastest craze that is sweeping through the nation so I am sure you will find one near you somewhere

Kerry x

its almost two weeks after my opp I must say I feel much better, I am back on my normal routine and I'm able to drive again. i really needed that rest I have one more week off then start work on 6th sep. Thanks everybody for your kind wishes, I have lost about 17lbs but I was not eating at all for the first week. Now I can think of fills and book one for next month. Despite The bad experience I had I feel that was the right choice to have this band. Good luck to everybody banded or being banded.

Hello all

I haven't posted for a few days as we are away camping in Cornwall with the children. Well if you need a challenge in the first month of being banded i would suggest going camping! It's amazing just what you can't have on a restaurant menu! Did try a small part of a scone for a cream tea and ended up giving 3/4 of it to my oldest (and that was only one half of it) just couldn't manage it at all!

The best bit is that my husband still forgets that I have the band, everyone wanted a pasty and I said to him that if it's steak I will not be able to have it. So he buys 2x large & 2x small ...... Yes you guessed it steak and veg. He looked very sorry as I said I can't eat steak. Anyway, removed the pastry and binned it and the tentatively chewed like crazy through the veg. Hoping that it would go down ok. Seemed ok but then just got stuck and I had to go and get rid (TMI) just to say it wasn't pleasant. We visited the Eden project yesterday and finally I found some lovely Soup and for dinner today a lovely restaurant in St Agnes had pea and mint soup - it was delicious!

Looking forward to going home so that i can weigh and measure and see what is going on.

food has been challenging this week so relied on yoghurt, weetabix, and cracker breads and phili cheese.< /p>

Have a good week everyone and will post again when home & done weigh in on Friday.

OMG, I can completely sympathise with you. I have just got back from a 2 week tour of europe in a motorhome 10 days after being banded. All that fresh bread in France was a nightmare lol (did manage one pain au chocolate though, it took me all day to eat it mind you lol) I found the wine went down a treat too :)

A lot of places served omlets, so I ate a few of them, but one night I ordered steak and potatoes, chewed like crazy, but it had to com back up.

Well done to everyone who is still losing or maintaining a weight loss. In less than 2 weeks I will be joining you as a fully fledged bandster and hopefully reporting weightloss along with all of you.I have kept my op pretty quiet, only immediate family, my boss and my best friend know that I am having it but in the last week, everyone seems to want to feed me up! I have been out for dinner constantly and have now given myself another 5lbs to lose - nightmare! I should be on a low fat pre op diet by now but am failing miserably. I am pretty good between meals out but still have 2 dinners to go with work before my op on the 10 September. Goodness only knows how I will deal with these afterwards! I hope that the pre op diet is not too crucial. Has anyone else had a disasterous pre op diet and does it make the op more difficult?

Hi Slinky. I can't wait although I am a bit nervous about how I will cope afterwards. I have been eating all my fav foods and saying this is my last chinese, indian, pizza etc. The kids are now suggesting "lasts" for me depending on what they fancy for tea.

What are the rules for hospital visiting in Belgium? I am going over with my aunt. Will she come to the hospital with me in the morning or is she restricted to set times?

I was hoping that someone else from the forum would be over for an op on the same day as me but no luck so far. I hope someone else speaks English.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
